Since more people on this board lean decidedly to the right, I see this poll skewing toward saying it is the Democrat's fault.

You're probably right...The Democrats are currently leading in the poll though.
-
Now it's a dead heat. Which of the two major political parties did the most to hasten the demise of common sense?
Republican 50% [ 2 ]
Democrat 50% [ 2 ] x
Total votes : 4

In reality, it is neither and both at the same time.

I'd agree that it's both major parties fault to some extent. I also further believe the Democrats were primarily responsible.

Believe what you want, it doesn't mean it's true.

I believe that as well. This is also why I favor classical liberalism since collectivist's don't like disent.

The obvious answer would be if you are a conservative Republican (in the classical sense) you would vote for Republicans. Why? Because they are being something they are not. If you are a hard partisan you always vote for the otherside. If you are in the middle, or are a Libertarian you shake your head and think; what is the difference?
There is not much of a difference. Folks who say, "but Obama is leading us to socialism", well okay, that is fair, but what do you have to offer as an alternative? The Republican Party? Really? What have they done in the past 30 years to suggest they are different?

Most Libertarians vote Republican since the Democrats aren't an option. Ron Paul wasn't a very viable candidate. Hopefully things will change. The Neocons could have less influence on the Republican party in the future for example.

Wrong. The democrat party in recent decades has had very little to do with common sense concerning most every topic of the day. It's all feel-good fuddy-duddy ideological utopian nonsense.
The GOP has lead many astray from common sense by appealing to common sense issues and then acting like liberal ideologues.

Nothing. Nothing at all.

Gee, maybe if the Republicans could find another actor to be their puppet, we could find another person to idolize.
Too bad that Fred Thompson guy was such a lazy sack....

I can't believe the DEMS are leading at this point. :( Which of the two major political parties did the most to hasten the demise of common sense?
Republican 53% [ 9 ]
Democrat 47% [ 8 ] x

As evidence, I need only point out who originated this poll.
Case closed.

All politicians have contributed to this IMO.
We need to do away with "Career" Politicians before we will ever have any kind of meaningful change in this country no matter what side the are on, they all seem to be complete morons
