Title: Stock Up or Down on your Fantasy Team
Post by: Drooke on December 31, 2009, 11:26:37 PM
Hey fellas after this weeks two massive tournaments who on your roster impressed, and who on your roster just simply depressed you?

Also who was your OW of the week, and If you had 20/20 hindsight would you change your line-up?

125 Escobedo - Stock is still thru the roof

133 Oliver - No change

141 Dake - Continues to impress, what an impressive season this true frosh is on

141 Nauman - I must say I was a bit disappointed, I thought that this would have been an opportunity for him to cement himself among the Elite of the weight.

157 JP O'Connor - No Show to the Show but Stock up a bit due to the Vacancy in the #1 slot

165 Brown - I went with Brown over my other 165 for the same reason I had Nauman in my roster

165 Young - He sat on my bench but would have been one of the high scorers on the roster if I had started him.... *sigh*

174 Henrich - Stock is the same for me ... He will be contending for the title but Lewnes is NAILS

184 Dergo - What can I say, he is clearly on a mission this year and I hope he keeps it up.  Stock way UP!!!  Plus it's nice to have the #1 and #2 184's on my roster :D

197 Jones - Stock down although I'm sure he is a bit more down on himself for his performance than I am

285 Steele - Stock is up.... not a bad return to Folkstyle after a year off.  Let him shake off a bit more rust and he will be in contention as well.

My OW would go to ...  Kyler with 34 points followed closely in a tie between Escobedo and Dake with 32.

I would have sat Brown, and started Young.  Instead of Nauman for my flex it would have been Birchler.

Before I get to my team, lets review yours.

125-Escobedo-Probably would have been beaten into submission if T Nick hadn't defaulted.  You should look to dump him and I would be willing to take him off your hands.
133-Agree, no change.
141-Dake-Has lost 2 in OT so apparently he has no gas tank.  You should trade him to me.
141-Nauman-I am disappointed in him as well.  You should trade him to me.
157-O'Connor-No show is his middle name.  You should trade him to me.
165-I'm not interested, I mean I agree with what you said.
174-Henrich-He won't beat Lewnes so you should trade him to me.
184-Dergo or Smith-Probably fade down the stretch.  You should trade them to me.
197-See 165
285-Steele will just keep rusting.  You should trade him to me.

Overall summary: Your team is in shambles.  You need to start making deals now before it is too late.  Don't deal with anybody else, they are only out to hurt your chances.  Right now I am your only friend.

AC, that was CLASSIC!  After the first few words I thought  "what the heck, is he really dissing Esco?", that quickly turned into bouts of literal laughter.  Well played my friend and happy new year.

Happy New Year to you as well.

My team:
125-Long- Stock is climbing.  Pretty good show at Midlands.  KJ likes the kid and so do I.
133-Graff- Rockets don't rise this fast.  Hope he carries it through the Big 10 season.
133-Hochstrasser- Should be well rested.
141-I have to watch what I say in case their mothers are present.
149-Chamberlain- No change.
149-Peppelman- No show at Midlands.  Hasn't wrestled since I picked him up.
157-Vernon- Hasn't wrestled since I picked him up.  Should have a decent shot at Big 12 with Burroughs gone.
165-Reader- Still rising.  I have seen him several times and I think he is much improved this year.  I think he goes all the way.
174-Manuel and James- No change.  Solid, should both be in contention for conference titles.
184-Ward- Rising.  When he has offense, he can be tough.
197-Varner- I think he is pretty good, but I am biased.
197-Brown- Down.  Disappointed at Midlands but I sill think he will do well the rest of the season and Big 10.
285-Russo- Same.  He can look pretty good or can be beat.  Never sure.

Happy New Year boys!

for me,

Krom--really dominant performance after a shaky start to begin the year.
Grajales---made the scuffle finals. at least he has a pulse.
Brandvold--taking 3rd after not wrestling much at all first semester.

with Krom and Brandvold wrestling well, at least i'll be competitive. i was worried my team was going down the sh!tter for a moment.

125- Jason Lara Oregon St - Wrestling tough.

133- #6 Nick Fanthorpe Iowa State - Needs to get it together after a poor showing at Midlands

141- Elijah Nacita Cal-State Bakersfield - About what I expected considering I haven't had a 141lber all season.

149- Frank Molinaro Penn State - Great trade pickup for me and should score me even more poijnts down the road.

157- Keegan Davis Oregon St - Nothing but upside with this guy. Takes 3rd at Midlands and is really getting it together as the season progresses.

165- Shane Onufer Wyoming - Not as impressed with him as I would've thought but a decent filler for me when King isn't wrestling.

174- Colby Covington Oregon State - A lot of upside for him as well. Remember, Nate Lee only beat him 4-2 this season.

184- #6 Michael Cannon American - Cannon is wrestling better than I hoped.

197- Dennis Drury North Carolina - Good pickup for me as well. Just wish I had him sooner.

285- #2 Konrad Dudziak Duke - Total bust with the returning NCAA finalist. Has scored me a whopping 3pts all season because he simply refuses to wrestle in any tournaments.

Flex
174 #8 Trevor Perry Indiana - Great start at 174 for me, but Covington good prove to be better.

Back ups
157 Bryce Saddoris Navy- Decent 157lber.

165 #1 Jarrod King Edinboro - Disappointed with his Scuffle performance especially since he got smoked.

125 Eric Morrell Edinboro - Great pickup for me at 125.

149 #22 Mario Mason Minnesota- Total pu$$y this season.

Overall, my team isn't great, but if I somehow manage to make it to the playoffs, I could score a lot of points at NCAA's.

Glad you got a good laugh out of it.

Now seriously, I have one serious hole to fill and some other spots that I need to improve.  You do not need both of those 41's or 84's.  What would it take to pry some guys out of your grip?  I am pretty ecstatic with Graff's performance and might be willing to give up Hoch at 33 and Brown at 97 for whichever guys you could part with.

Let me know.

AC, you need a 184?
Title: Re: Stock Up or Down on your Fantasy Team

I really need a 41 but wouldn't mind trying to get better at 84.

I'll send you a pm on the subject then

Actually AC, that is kind of intriguing. I'm gonna have to noodle on it a bit.

Although my first thought would be that Brown really would be (imo) trading laterally for me with either Jones or Starks....Varner however is another matter....

At this point at 141 I'm leaning toward keeping Dake in my stable.  Nauman had a bad tourny at the MIdlands but the kid is a stud.  One of the reasons I picked him this year is because last season he had wins over Tanelli, majored Novachkov, majored Russel, Nelson by fall, Ciasulli, Sulzer, Washington by fall, Prater, and Accordino. He was 0-2 last year at Nationals but drew Jaggers in the first round and lost 6-4 in OT then lost to  Molinaro 5-4 in consis's.  Not too shabby.

As far as 184 goes Smith has the edge over Dergo due to the OT victory in Vegas this season (on paper).  Then again Smith hasn't wreslted a whole lot this year and Dergo is besting almost all comers... I guess I'm open to discussion here a bit as well.

Honestly though have you heard how Hoch is doing?

P.S.

My 84's should be ranked #1 and #2 in the country when the rankings next come out

All right then noodle on this, Smith and Dake for Varner and Washington?
Title: Re: Stock Up or Down on your Fantasy Team
Post by: Drooke on January 02, 2010, 01:44:08 AM
Lol, I don't need to noodle too long on that.  I think this particular deal needs just a tad bit of tweeking...(Is washington even going to wrestle again this year - injury?)

How about Dergo and Young for Reader and Varner?

If AC takes such a lopsided deal I will beat him over the head with a frying pan.  AC PM me if you want a 141

A little more tweaking.....

Reader, Varner and Melde for Brown, Smith and Nauman.  Noodle time.........

Man oh man Ac this is turning into a potential blockbuster.  I'm unfamiliar with Melde's accomplishments this season.  Let me do some research, check schedules and I will get back with ya.  I'm also gonna ask Bronco in his new 133 pac-10 thread if he has heard any news on Hoch.

AC, I've been watching "our" wrestlers pretty closely and I want to put this out on the table.....

Just know that I'm still VERY interested in dealing.  Reader just lost a close one again and I'm not so sure that he would be such and upgrade to Brown, or even Young.

At this point I want guys IN the finals at Nationals because I have a feeling I will need those points at the conclusion of this season.  165 will just be SICK at Nationals.

Bronco said that Hoch could have wrestled at Reno but decided to sit.  So (if true) I'm interested in dealing here with an Oliver swap.

If Nauman could actually get back on the horse and have a good week I could possibly see a Dake for Varner trade here.  Dake is going to be putting up some massive numbers and is a legit contender for the title so I think it's fair (he lost to Reece in OT).  Although I really have developed quite the soft-spot for the young man.

Whattya think?  My schedule is good for the next week so...the ball is in your court.

Drooke take a tip from a pro, these negotiations are best conducted in private.  Otherwise I'm going to have to point out how ridiculous comparing Dake to Varner is in terms of ability.  Varner is a three time finalist and returning champ, while Dake is a top 10 ranked Frosh who might very well be the next Kellen Russell.

Also acting like Reader isn't a considerable upgrade over Young or Brown because he lost to Schlatter and Howe is silly...

He is beating you by 54 points, so I think he has the right to make his own predictions.

Yes, because having a 50 point lead halfway through the regular season is the same as winning the whole thing

Lost, sounds like your out a 197.  Beatty is supposedly out until Big tens.  Hopefully Lofthouse performs well for both you and Iowa.

Hey lost how about my 197 Starks for uh.. say Howe? :D   What is your analysis on that?

Easy to laugh when your luck has been amazing and you haven't had a single guy go down with a significant injury...

I'll deal, my fantasy luck is usually terrible and I still overcome.  I had two guys with blown ACLs last year.  This year I have lost Burroughs for the season in my A league right after making a massive trade for him, and have had the usual share of guys getting injured/flaking out.

If Beatty is out I guess I'll be down a 197 til the post-season.. not many trades that would make sense.

are you willing to sell your soul for a championship?  I have Lapotsky.  He is third in the land (granted the third best in his conference as well).

who would you want for lapotsky?  he is your only 197.  I'd give you beatty for him if you want to start building a conf team
