I'm really  happy for Paul Young . Paul's work ethic is second to none and i hope he does a great job yet Army goes for a big name and Paul returns to IU.

Just a couple of random comments. How long ago was "back in the day" Herbp? 5 hours before the match was the earliest I can remember weighing in and I truly did wrestle back in the day. Also, do you guys that bash IU's weight cutting truelynthinkmthey cut anymore than any other BIG team? Eric Roach was not made to cut back down to 141lbs. I doubt that Taylor Walsh cut as much weight a St. John. How does a staff run a tough kid like Justin Brooks out of the program? I mean seriously what reason would any coach have for running a "tough" kid out of a program. I'll bet IU doesn't have anymore "quitters" than any other BIG team. Last but not least bash Duane all you want. He can take it. His son is by all accounts a hard working level headed young man liked by all of his teammates. Leave him alone.
I've never knowingly ''bashed '' Garrett . The harshest thing I've ever said is he is not D1 material-Back in the day was 1977-80 and as a walk on most of my weigh-
ins were on friday night for a Saturday tournament and as far as ''leaving him alone'' you can stick it.I don't attack the kids and I'll post my opinion as I see fit.
One of the perks of being a coach is getting your kid a scholarship-didn't bitch about it when Coach Knight did it nor will i now. Roach didn't cut to 141 as Raley is pretty good.and when he didn't make  grades why burn Molloy's RS ? Plus Moody had the best record of any RS last year

Indiana has always recruited well. It's not their recruiting that's been their problem.

So.....it is the facilities?
It's the retention and development. Unless people aren't staying in the room, and aren't improving, because the facilities aren't good, a five-star hotel, resort, casino and spa inside the IU wrestling room isn't going to change the program.
SHP-
I'd like to believe you trust my knowledge and integrity enough to trust my 4-5 year old proof that only one wrestler has improved his record over his 4-5 years at IU-one Trevor Perry.-Justin Brooks is a great example of a tough kid simply getting run out of the room by staff.
No argument. I'm just saying that it's "probably" not because of the facilities that any of those wrestlers are leaving, or failing to improve.
A well known wrestling commentator's son wrestled for IU and both he and his son refer to the IU room as a pit of despair and negativity. THAT reflects back upon the coach .

So.....it is the facilities?

For  as long as I can remember-since 1978 at least-IU's wrestling room has been in the lower recesses (basement) of Assembly Hall-the one locker room improvement was helped funded by Coach Knight.

I bet my left nut IU doesn't win a B1G match again this year.I also wager Goldman will face NO repercussions after another dismal season.

Is MSU on the schedule :D
Doesn't matter-they lost to MSU last year
Here is IU's recruiting class-I've viewed everyone of these kids online at least 2-3 matches and I've concluded DANISHEK , WEAVER and perhaps MARTIN can help in a year or two.Danishek is a beast and Weaver laid a decent whipping on Iowa recruit Gross(yet IU has had little luck with Michigan kids recently) Martin HAS to be better than the 3 guys who manned 174 last year.
Problem is -the weights really needed recruiting did NOT get recruited. Danishek will wrestle behind Walsh(probable RS), Weaver will have to fight through Raley,Moody and Molloy ?Martin may take 174 by default .
IU loses Chalfant and LeBlanc-so 125, 149,165,174,197 and hwt-or 60% of the line up will remain stagnant or manned by Freshman-winning records are to be found at 149-barely-157 and Sheridan at 184/197.At 285 Miller is undersized and Little placed 7th ? or 5th in states.Thatcher lost in the first round at state in a lame weight class.

How does one gain 14 lbs in one day?
WAY back in my day weigh-ins were the day before and I'd arrive right after jumping rope (in plastics) at the HPER building sauna-I'd gain 10 lbs before leaving Assembly Hall.:)
Also, sheridan pretty much pis-spounded Polizzi (NW) 10-0 the rd before he stuck Cox.

Most IU kids look like concentration camp survivors-cutting WAY too much-Luke is a big strong greco kid-I'm not saying he'll even place in the B1G yet I do think he'll improve greatly up a weight -Sheridan loses a ton of 3-2 matches and was 22-15 last year and a 2x NQ.
