Jesus, they really are throwing Conel to the wolves with this schedule right away.  He lucks out that he doesn't have to face Warner (isn't making the trip).  But dude has three big ten schools in the first two weeks.

College / 2018-2019 Lineups
« on: May 07, 2018, 12:02:07 PM »
I am bored and I have a serious case of the Mondays.  I will take a shot at the Iowa lineup next year which could be pretty good.  They are returning four All-Americans and two qualifiers who should keep lineup spots.  Oh and they added future MMA hopeful Austin DeSanto who is an NCAA qualifier.  Vince Turk and Cashe Wilcke were both round of 12 wrestlers as was DeSanto.  The 2017 team scored the most bonus for a Hawk team since the all-time great 1997 team.  the lineup really only loses Sorensen, but his backup ain't awful.

125:  Spencer Lee (so)
         Justin Stickley (so)
returning NCAA Champion & depending on where guys like Fix land could be in the driver's seat all over again.  expect him to just get even better as he finally returns to 100%.  he won the toughest weight at the tournament and did so convincingly.

133:  Austin DeSanto (so) - transfer
        Paul Glynn (jr)
remember the guy who beat Lee in high school to deny him his fourth PA title?  yeah that guy.  well after a very public meltdown at the NCAA tournament that saw him roundly booed for a kimura that could not have looked more deliberate.  I mean this was on the level of Sanders stomping on Robles.  it was bad.  oh and then getting broken and danced over by Rutgers AA Delvecchio didn't help his weekend.  he wanted a tougher room and he found it.  even with the departure of McDonough, this room is going to give him all he can handle.  he needs to make this weight because he isn't going to break through the 141 class.  if he does, he is an absolute AA threat.

141:  Vince Turk (jr)
         Max Murin (rsfr)
what a problem to have.  this weight has three guys who are NCAA qualifiers when you add Carter Happel to the list as well.  one of these guys should be growing and moving up.  Turk was a bright spot for the Hawkeyes after he advanced to the round of 12.  Max Murin is a promising redshirt who outplaced his teammates at the Midlands tournament. The PA native went 16-3 last season as a redshirt.  This is going to be a good battle.  Either of these wrestlers is capable of being an AA.

149:  Patricio Luge (jr)
         Jaren Glosser (jr)
four time all-american Brandon Sorensen is gone.  in his spot should be a wrestler who defeated him two years ago in Patricio Lugo.  the Edinboro transfer took a redshirt last season and looks poised to be an All-American.  Jaren Glosser filled in at 157 for Kemerer against Michigan but had more success at 149.  it will be intersting to see if he gets larger and moves up with the weight shuffle happening above him.  If he does the backup here may be the guy sitting third on the depth chart at 141.

157:  Kaleb Young (so)
        Jaren Glosser (jr)
        Nelson Brands (fr)
I know what you're thinking, I am missing a two-time all american at this weight.  well the rumors are out there and I'm sure you've seen the Tweet from Brands after Kemerer redeemed his first pitch fiasco from last year.  he is in the weight room getting bigger after an injury plagued season that still saw him land on the podium.  the big question here is if Kaleb Young who wrestled last season at 165 & 174 can make the cut.  I am not sure he can and that means this is a possible hole in the lineup.  I think Glosser can hold it down though and at worse qualify.  can Nelson persuade uncle Tom to let him the lineup?

165:  Alex Marinelli (so)
        Jeremiah Moody (jr)
Alex took the spot over after recovering from knee surgery and finished as an AA.  did I mention that he beat Vincenzo Joseph in Happy Valley?  he will be backed up by the UWW junior national champ.  Marinelli is a solid bet to AA again and score bonus along the way.

174:  Micheal Kemerer (jr)
        Joseph Gunther (jr)
Gunther is now a two-time NCAA qualifier, but that is not enough.  if Kemerer puts on the weight this will be his spot.  Gunther found himself pushed last season by Kaleb Young and is now in danger of losing his spot to another smaller Hawkeye.  Kememer is a AA threat at whatever weight he chooses.

184:  Cashe Wilcke (jr)
        Mitch Bowman (sr)
Cashe Wilcke thought this was going to be his spot a year ago, but an absolute disaster happened.  Iowa thought they would have a AA transfer ready at semester and asked the Hawk to go back up to the weight he was a round of a 12 wrestler in the year before.  we all know how that worked out and Bowman was forced to try and hold the fort down.  the kid has heart, but if Cashe wants the spot (I think he does) then it will be his.  this is good for the Hawkeyes as I thought Bowman would have been an AA last season at this weight and I don't see that changing next year despite the shuffle that appears to be happening nationally at the upper weights.

197:  Jacob Warner (rsfr)
         Connor Corbin (rsfr)
Jacob Warner is going to be good.  a solid bet to AA.  his backup Connor Corbin ain't a slouch either.

Hwt:  Sam Stoll (sr)
         Anthony Cassioppi (fr)
Sam Stoll just has to stay healthy and not have another mental breakdown to be an All-American again.  this weight opens up a bit as well with guys like Snyder, Coon, and Kasper graduating.

Iowa could have All-Americans at as many as ten weights.  they are returning nearly all of their bonus as well.  I don't think they get ten, but depending on how Oklahoma State shakes out, they may be the only team capable of running down Penn State.

Track has the teams up (or what they think will be teams) and a few already have their number of entries.  Of note Penn State with 1 and Minnesota with 5.  Otherwise the usual suspects.

So...Who is going from PSU.  A local guy headed home for Christmas break or will it be a starter or backup trying to put pressure on the guys ahead of him (197)?
