Gray Simons, Lock Haven - 4x NAIA, 3x NCAA Champion, 2x Olympian
Eddie Eichelberger, Lehigh - 2x NCAA champion
Pete Blair, Navy - actually never a starter in HS, won two NCAA titles and an Olympic silver.

The last spot is open between these national champions

Fred Powell, Slippery Rock
Bubba Jenkins, Penn State/Arizona State
Jim Harrison, Pittsburgh
Carl Perry, Illinois
Byron Tucker, Oklahoma
George Radman, Michigan State

I'm NOT including Wayne Boyd (Temple) for consideration.

Only 24 schools average more than 1,000 fans a match. How many of those under 1K schools are being put in facilities that they get "charged" for even though they're on campus, and do things like putting cameras shooting into empty seats vs. into the stands. The NBA and ABA used to do that, put the TV camera on the side of the court where no one was sitting.

If the school doesn't want to try to make revenue off a gate, they shouldn't be allowed to look at the numbers as a reason to cut. At least 20 schools don't even track wrestling attendance.

ODU generates less than $10,000 annually in gate receipts for wrestling. Annual contributions specific to wrestling are minimal.

- Case closed.  Friends and family programs are so easy to eliminate.

ODU has drug its feet with the volleyball/wrestling facility for so long, the team has had to compete in the 9K seat arena ... and they get billed for the use of the on-campus facility that they should have been out of five years ago.

You're not wrong, but all men's non-revenue and Olympic sports are pretty much on the block.

Especially when the man in charge of making the decisions has no ability to think for himself.

I'm not a fool.

Volleyball was on the horizon since the football announcement. Wrestling and volleyball were to share the same competition facility (like UVA). The problem was softball was supposed to be added and they drug their feet on that. Volleyball isn't the culprit, failure to add softball is the gender-equity culprit.

Thanks for the info!

Could someone compete at Las Vegas and still take an Olympic Red shirt?

No, it's an attached tournament.

LaMant was reported (By UVU) to be taking an Olympic Redshirt, although hearing he may be back in the lineup in Vegas.
Rivera is on his descent to 125.

And that’s the great thing about this board.

I had a reply posted, but it's not worth it.  You never cared much for facts anyway.

And for the record, none of those things happened on my watch.

Well, considering the rules of that board (which I actually set because of morons) are outlined about legal matters, the people who are complaining about them haven't taken the time to read them.

I'm going to assume it was deleted because you were trying to be a subversively clever and taking a shot at the forum rules. But hey, par for the course.

I'll bet the PAC 12 is not require dual meets between member schools and all they will ask of UALR is to show up for their one day tournament.

At some point UALR moves over to the SoCon.

Little Rock does not want the SoCon. They wanted the Big 12 and some of the AD's objected. Then the MAC absorbed the EWL and they had too many moving parts for this realignment cycle to take a 16th member. I'd expect the MAC to re-settle and pick up Little Rock eventually. Perhaps the Big 12 will waver in a few years.

My gut tells me the Pac 12 and the Big 12 heads will meet up and divvy up the teams more geographically in a few years. The Pac 12 will not accept Cal Baptist, too much of a difference in the school compared to its existing members. CBU also does not compete on Sundays. I'm also wondering if a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation model could be in the works, although I know the Pac 12 and Big 12 both like having their name on a wrestling conference championship (for now).

Jason, why do you think Fresno ended up in the Big XII and not the PAC 12?

Simple, Fresno State didn't want to go into the Pac-12.
