Arizona State, by way of comparison, has 10 wrestlers on the current roster who are ranked below # 50 in their weight class (all 10 projected starters).

Imagine a Div. I wrestling team that currently has only 19 individuals listed on their wrestling team roster.

Imagine this Div. I wrestling team has only three wrestlers - total - who are ranked below # 50 in their weight class by WrestleStat

Imagine this Div. I wrestling team has only 11 individuals on their team ranked below # 100 in their weight class by WrestleStat

Any guesses who this team might be?

After being removed from the Arizona State wrestling team roster a few weeks ago Kordell Norfleet has been - once again - added to the Arizona State wrestling team roster.

On his bio page is this entry for the 2022-2023 season:  "Granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA and so will return for one last season in 2022-23."

His younger brother Kendall however has not been added back onto the roster.

Yeah, it would be nice.  But Ryou's advice is sound.

mspart

It may well be sound BUT ............if this website doesn't allow you to do it then it's pointless.

Which is why I wish there was an EDIT button here.

Well, there is,... kinda.

Copy your bad post and paste it into a new reply
Fix it.
Post it

Then reopen the string, find your bad post and "Remove" it.

You get a couple hours to do it before the Remove button vaporizes.

I have tried to do that but for reasons unknown to me "it" won't allow me to do that.  It would be MUCH easier if the author of a message here could simply EDIT out errors in their messages.

Oops - meant that last line to be 2024 (not 2023).  Which is why I wish there was an EDIT button here.

He's graduated and still has 2 years left to go?    That's just crazy.   Covid really took us for a spin.

mspart

Nothing crazy about it.

2019 - True Freshman at Penn State (redshirted)

2020 - RS Freshman at UNI - Cancelled season (and doesn't count towards eligibility)

2021 - RS Freshman at UNI

2022  - RS Sophomore at UNI

2023 - RS Junior at (to be determined)

2023 - RS Senior at (to be determined)

From what I am reading elsewhere Teske has two years of eligibility remaining (this season & next).

Teske is ranked # 11 at 125 lbs on WrestleStat and apparently he graduated from the Univ. of N. Iowa this summer so he's a grad transfer and therefore can go pretty much whereever he chooses.   It's interesting to note that he started out at Penn State and Penn State could use another top 25 guy at 125 lbs as their highest rated guy currently at 125 lbs is ranked # 23 by WS (Robert Howard).  I have to wonder if that is a possibility for him or if he goes elsewhere.

Personally I'd love to see him sign with a PAC 12 school - like Stanford or Cal Poly (if he qualifies academically).  As I understand it he will be a RS Junior for the upcoming 2022-23 season but he also has that extra year of eligibility due to the cancelled 2020 season.  So he could have as many as three more years of eligibility remaining (2023-2024 & 2025?).

Arizona State and Oregon State are not members of the Association of American Universities and therefore not likely to get an invitation to join.  Notre Dame is the only non-member of the AAU that would get an invitation.  Matter of fact they are already in the Big Ten Conference for ice hockey.

I don't think USC and UCLA will be required to offer wrestling even though it is an Olympic sport which B1G maintains high priority.

I mentioned Arizona State and Stanford and Oregon State because they all have wrestling programs - just like every current member of the Big Ten.  Stanford IS a member of the Association of American Universities.  But then so is U.C. Davis, U.C. Irvine, U.C. Santa Cruz, U.C. Santa Barbara, and U.C. San Diego.
