Had I not tested positive for the flu on Tuesday, I would have been there.  But no way was I going to be around 5000 wrestling families, with the flu, particularly the Ashnault and Suriano families.   Geeez.....can you imagine.  I'm just thankful it surfaced on Tuesday and not Thursday.

Still, hated not being at the post tournament Rutgers party.  The sole consolation, I was able to sell 2 all session seats for $1400 and saved $1000+ on the hotel room.

You might try that again next year.   you could bank some serious cash!!

What is the probability they will win the team title next year now that a number of their top guns will go away?

College / Re: I don't care for Fix
« on: March 25, 2019, 01:58:42 PM »
That call was really close, you'd need a decimal places to the hundredths on the clock to verify that one. After seeing the replay it was clearly a difficult call.  I'm fairly certain Suriano thought the count started at :04 like many others

The count that I question was the second if I call correctly, Suriano had hold of Fix waist above the hips and the ref started counting it off.

As for Fix, he was no different in the dual meet. He just sat back looking to counter continually backing off with no stall calls.

Two completely different attitudes in that bout.  Fix was there to wrestle for the title.  Suriano wanted the title and wasn't going to be denied.

Fix was there not to lose the title by doing something stupid and getting countered.  Suriano took the title!!

Yeah he is only a freshman, but his antics say to everyone, "I'm the best, don't even look at me you are not worthy".  I'm not saying that is how he really is, but that is a really cocky thing to do to come out, do a somersault and launch into the air, like nobody else in the work could do that.  He did that schtic in high school.  No question he is good, but a little humility about it goes a long way.

College / I don't care for Fix
« on: March 25, 2019, 11:09:18 AM »
I watched the finals match with Fix and Suriano.  Fix really didn't do much but block.  And his tired roll to a very high jump to start the match is cocky and not needed.  That antic did not work for him this time if it is supposed to impose some sort of fear that he can't be beat.  He's good, don't get me wrong.  I just have to say I don't care for what I saw.

Marinelli goes down today.  First #1 seed to lose in the tourney.  The semi's are determined up to 184 right now.  Not a lot of upsets but a few in the lower weights.   The top 4 seeds are holding fairly firmly.  Wehn not, #5 and #6 seeds are in there.

The seeding for top 4 is holding pretty steady.  Only a few upsets:

141  #4 Alber lost to #13 Shoop
184  #2 Rasheed lost to #15 Ness
184  #4 Parker lost to #13 Bonaccorsi

PSU is going to fire a few folks.  Vincenzo Joseph and Mark Hall did not get bonus points in their wins in the second round.  And of course Rasheed lost.

Team Scores after the second round:

1   Penn State    32.5
2   Ohio State    25.5
3   Iowa    24.0
4   Minnesota    20.0
4   Oklahoma State    20.0
6   Missouri    18.0
7   Michigan    17.5
8   Nebraska    16.0
8   Virginia Tech    16.0
10   Northern Iowa    15.5
11   Iowa State    14.5
12   NC State    13.5
12   Oregon State    13.5
14   Lehigh    11.5
15   Cornell    11.0
16   Rutgers    10.5
17   Lock Haven    10.0
17   North Carolina    10.0
19   Arizona State    9.5

MN is doing good in 4th.  PSU is just running away.  ASU is not doing all that good.  Okie St again is not meeting expectations at #4.

Well, they got the top 4 in each weight class right.  No upsets there.  #5 at HWT lost to #28 Sam Stoll.
