Polls / How much does Chris Christie weigh?
« on: April 15, 2015, 01:50:21 AM »
For the record Christie is 5'11" tall. I have found a reference which states his weight as 398 pounds. You guys wrestled, and granted 90% of you weren't around during the days of unlimited heavyweight...but how much do YOU think he weighs? I think he looks like he might be over 400 pounds.

Polls / Freedom
« on: March 31, 2015, 09:55:17 AM »
Do you think people should have absolute freedom? Why? Do you believe in absolute freedom with no law? Do you believe in absolute freedom of action but only with law? If so who should administer the law?

If you believe that people cannot be trusted with complete freedom what other earthly power, if not the government,  do you think should have control?

If you had to pick one human being to be the Dictator of the World (and it couldn't be somebody in your extended family) who would you pick?

Please consider your answers carefully.

Bullshit artists please put a smiley in your post somewhere.

A great site for referencing past NCAA tournaments. I've noticed it hasn't been updated in a couple years. I know Jay died in 2013...was he the only guy who was putting in work on the website? I had a couple discussions with him on wrestling history about 4 years ago. Seemed like a super nice guy, very patient with answering my questions.

I was wondering...who is the "owner" of that website now that Jay is gone? I've noticed that the font on the brackets looks strange now. That plus the lack of updates for the last couple years has me worried that this great resource is living on borrowed time. I'd happily enter the brackets for the last couple years if I could contact whoever that page belongs to.

Lastly, and I found this enormously depressing....I saw a picture on the site of a team. Under the picture was the date it was entered and by whom. Jay entered it in 2011. Good God, what a soldier he must've been. He had to have known he wasn't long for the world, but he was still putting in work on his labor of love. The wrestling community lost somebody special when Jairus Hammond died.

Man, that is a special kind of suck. Anybody on Michigan State's team have a pulse this year? What do Big 10 fans think of the dumpster fire that is Michigan State?

High School & Lower / Tennessee State Tournament
« on: March 08, 2015, 07:01:05 AM »
Was reading at Intermat that the conditions at the Tennessee HS state tournament were pretty bad. No specifics were offered, and no pictures either. From what I understand the venue had a dirt floor and the mats were unevenly laid down over the dirt.

Did they hold the tourney at a Monster Truck Rally site or something like that? Was it a monetary decision? Anybody here have any details, links to photos or anything like that? Thanks much.

Damn that was boring. Thoughts from you guys? I wonder how many potential fans were driven away after watching that match?

Off-Topic / Hey Grandpa, whats for supper?

Beef vegetable stew with cabbage! 1 pound of cubed stew beef, 1 head cabbage, 1 container beef broth, 1 pound carrots, 1 large onion, 1 large potato cubed, large can of diced tomatoes. 1/2 cup worsterchire sauce, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic powder. Put a little oil in pot and brown the meat, chop up everything else and add and simmer until everything is done.

Good shit, wish you guys could have some. Great for cold days like today.

Off-Topic / What books do you HATE?
« on: January 01, 2015, 02:40:16 AM »
Saw this topic posted elsewhere and thought it might be interesting. Which books do you HATE...and why you hate them.

Heart of Darkness - English wasn't Conrad's first language, and it's obvious in this book. Plus I'm a huge fan of "Apocalypse Now" and the book fell way short of living up to the movie "based" on it. Maybe not "hate" as much as "severe disappointment".

The Catcher in the Rye - Ugh, where to start. A snotty punk teenager whining about how rough life is, how phony everybody else is. This book has no redeeming values whatsoever. How in the HELL did this book become a "classic"?

anything by Steven Donaldson - especially the "Thomas Covenant" series. The "hero" rapes a teenage girl who helped him when he arrived in the world. Groovy. Let's have a contest....who can write a book with the phrase "Leper....unclean" the most? Nevermind..Donaldson is the world champ and you can't challenge him!

Let's hear it...what books do you hate the most?

I can tell from the interviews that he's a nice kid. Personally...what's not to like? Wrestling-wise in HELL does he not get slapped with stalling in EVERY big match? I don't think I've ever seen him take a single shot in a big match. What gives with the sweetheart treatment?

Saw on the Geary website that Blair will be visiting Geary, Oklahoma for the yearly tournament in January. Any of you guys attending? I'm thinking of buying plane tickets to OKC and renting a car to go to the tourney.

Pretty simple question...what top level wrestlers in the NCAA have you noted to be....flabby? No heavyweights!

College / Who is the most fun to watch in college?

I really enjoy watching Brewer from OU. Love the aggressive pace he sets, and he never lets up. He probably won't win a title before he's done, but he might be a 4xAA.

Who do you guys like to watch?
