Rock is the only one making any sense in this thread.

Are you nuts? Rock has been a veritable font of misinformation on the Chance issue. First off he said he was kicked off the team. Then he claimed there were drug problems.

Except it was mainly the environmentalists and progressives who were touting it as a way to push their policies and political agenda.

Many years after the fact. As you said the environmentalists had an agenda. Politics makes strange bedfellows doesn't it? Odd that a bogus report to justify higher prices on oil was used by environmentalists.

Except the B1G is the wrestling equivalent of the SEC?

I get the B1G is great and respect their commitment to wrestling, but I think they get too many bids to NCAAs. When 10 guys at a weight qualify from one conference at HWT...that's pretty ridiculous. (They were pretty much the 10 best though, lol).

I saw on another board a poster who is usually right on these sorts of things said that Chance was at practice the day after the tweet.  We've all reacted in the moment and said some things we later regretted.  The fact that you can now do so in front of the entire world is a complicating factor, but he may stay put and try a more natural weight next year.  Whatever he decides to do, I just hope he gets himself sorted out.  Whether that is continuing with wrestling anywhere or not doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Definitely. Young folks are prone to shoot their mouths off and say stupid shit. Old folks too, lol.

I hope he sticks with wrestling. That's his gift. He needs to get healthy first, forget the weight cutting nonsense, and get strong again. That's what made him special.

What happened to the "peak oil" doomsayers?  They seem to have gotten awfully quiet.

"Peak Oil" was a myth perpetrated by the oil companies to justify higher prices in an era when gas was going for 5 cents a gallon. it worked. it allowed them to unethically jack up the price of gasoline and make a lot bigger profits based off that lie.

I'd have to break out "Cowboy Up" since I can't remember what happened off the top of my head. I would ask my father but he is prone to moments of pure bs like his claim that John Smith was on the cover of Sports Illustrated (never happened).

Haha! What a ridiculous claim!

Everybody knows it was Cosmopolitan.

If Iowa State had kept Gable, how would that have transformed the Big 8?

ISU would've dominated D1 wrestling for 20 years. Would've made for some great OSU/ISU/OU matchups in the 80s.

True.  Ken Griffey Jr vs Isaiah "JR" Rider, Derek Jeter vs Randy Moss.

Who is Isaiah Rider?

Doesn't that mean the economy is crap now?

Why do you think the economy is improving? Gas prices.

As long as gas prices continue to drop people will have more disposable income. Artificially high gas prices, like those we experienced after Bush's disastrous and ill considered invasion of Iraq are economy killers. Takes money out of circulation and puts it in the pockets of Big Oil. That only benefits Big Oil. Low prices benefit everybody else.

The interesting thing is how the left is twisting in the wind on the issue. They are happy the economy is doing well, but they are unhappy that people will use more gas. Pretty stupid, huh? Some of them are proposing big gas taxes to discourage consumption (which is idiotic and would damage the economy).

Just Toby trying to get a rise out of someone, I guess.  ::)

Hey now, you and Jason pay attention:

Iowa State beats Virginia Tech to win National College Division title at 36th annual Virginia Duals

Boys, that doesn't EXACTLY say "National Champion"...but I think it can certainly be confused as such.

I like ISU, btw (old Big 8 team!).

He tweeted that wrestling no longer needed him. However the tweet has been deleted.

Wow, what an ego. The only guy I can think that wrestling needed was Gable (and that as a coach, not wrestler).

He took a redshirt year and concentrated on freestyle. He won the US Senior championship that year.

I think John is the only American, until Snyder, to compete as a  world champion in NCAAs (presuming Snyder will make it this year). Is that correct?

He beat another girlfriend later, then hit a bunch of pedestrians with his car.  He also killed a cellmate in prison.

Yeah, they kept him isolated after he murdered his cellmate. The wiki article on the guy said he was getting 25 years tacked onto his sentence for crimes he'd committed against a previous girlfriend.

Tom Osborne was a scumbag. Yeah, they consider him a saint in Nebraska but the guy brought in thugs and criminals to that campus. Osborne protected rapists so they could play on Saturdays. He bent over backwards to accommodate Philips, who beat the crap out of his pregnant girlfriend.

Sad that Phillips ended that way, but he dug his own hole.
