for some reason, i can't log into the admin side of things on the forums right now.

if i could, i'd either whack the thread or at least edit the title of it.

the program is in absolutely no danger.

Am I the only one who thinks its nuts to discount Ruth because of his strength?  He was one of the most physically overpowering wrestlers in ncaas last year.  You really think he becomes a waif at 184.  Tell me you think his technique is bad, or that he is doesnt match up well, but strength?  Thats his biggest...strength!

i think that might be the point VA.

move up 10 lbs and now his strength (strength) is reduced.

he's still the most talented kid at the weight. and like i said, i'll still take him to win it all.

but it's sure not the tap in that it is at 74

VA, i was going 'Worst Case Scenario" with ruth at 4th.

and though i think his wrestling skills are vastly superior to other guys at 184, im just flat out not sure if he's big enough for the weight. (not sure if anything can be taken from this, but he scored a grand total of 1 point against the vaunted Phil Keddy)

i'll take Ruth against anyone at 184, just saying the liklihood for him to get tripped up (which can happen to anyone) is much higher when you're not full sized and giving up strength like he'll be doing with Steinhaus and Bosak.

thinking about it a little more.....

what would generate more points

Brown - 4th

Ruth 4th

Q - 4th

Ruth - 1

Q - 2

Brown - DNP

probably a net gain, right?

i really don't see Ruth or Q big enough to move up.

put Q next to Kilgore. put Ruth next to Steinhaus.

from a team pt perspective, i'd rather leave those two there and make Matt Brown wrestle as an undersized 97.

brown at 74 makes more sense if your goal is to win national duals, not ncaa's.

maybe im wrong, i just think taking a two time finalist and a two time Top 3 and putting them at a disadvantage is risky business.

that being said, i'll still take ruth over steinhaus. but it's a risky match. rut at 74 and you can crown him now.

which leads me to another weight class concept....i wish Yohn and Storely would flip-flop

VA, what weight do you have Caldwell wrestling? 65 or 74?

in general i think Foley writes well. the prose itself, that is.

i just don't care for his perspective or creative license.

the mailbag thing is a train wreck. the format is a perfect opportunity to both give some insight and voice your opinion. frankly, i wish i did it, lol.
foley does neither. his response to straight forward questions arent researched to the extent that he provides any more information than everyone already knows.

and the questions that ask his opinion on things (other than the ones about cartoon characters) are addressed with bland, non-committal biographies as if he doesn't want to ruffle any feathers.

(either that or he doesn't know what he's talking about).

i too don't get why he response to "that's bad journalism/writing" with "i have a degree'.

i have a graduate degree too. one that im rather proud of. but it's never crossed my mind to mention that when taking criticism.

you produce what you produce. if you write jibberish, it's still jibberish whether you have a degree or not.

if you write excellent content, does the author lacking a degree diminish the quality of the work?

When liberals try to use the government to cure societal ills, it frequently results in unintended consequences. And when it does they never accept responsibility for the fallout. Some on here seem to condone those "good intentions", this too is a mistake.

We know what road is paved with good intentions.  Title IX is no exception.

Of course, that is giving them the benefit of the doubt.  It is just as likely that they are an advocacy group that is only concerned about the benefits to their constituents and don't give a rat's how it affects anyone else.

spot on Bob

Gwiz to NCST is apparently (and at this time) not 100%.

did i jump the gun? kinda. yeah. i didn't get the word directly from Gwiz, but i got a littany of emails with this...

honestly, im usually more thorough, but it made so much sense, and so many seemed to corraborate it, i ran it.

my apologies.

i stopped arguing with her. it's futile and sophomoric.

every time i bring up a incongruity in Title IX Nancy deflects it to "it's not title ix, it's the college's application of it"

cmon man! that's just a cop out.

it's title ix that prescribes it. don'e get it twisted.

she sticks to about 3 axioms and deflects everything else.

like a true politician.
