Mixed Martial Arts / Lashley Sapp is a freak show but

I'm interested in Din Thomas vs. Javier Vasquez and Yvel vs. Rizzo interest me some.  Like watching Horodecki fight as well.  Anyone actually going to pay for "Ultimate Chaos" tonight?

I certainly think he wins as well but Huerta is dangerous and not a gimme for Gray.  Hopefully Dana doesn't bury this fight on the undercard like he did to Arlovski when he wasn't signing a new contract.

Unless the fights came to him in Morocco he wouldn't be fighting.  If he ever left the country and went anywhere where there was extradition to Britain he would have been arrested and sent back to stand trial.  Was that a story on sherdog of a forum post?

Mixed Martial Arts / Dana and the UFC ban more sponors
« on: June 25, 2009, 07:30:26 PM »
Evidently the UFC wants to charge the sponsors $100,000 for the right to be a sponsor!
I know the UFC is the biggest game there is and most have to play by Dana's rules but things like this will lead to guys looking elsewhere or more fighters union talk.  2 big ones that jump out at me are One More Round and Full Tilt Poker. Cote, Ken Flo, Hughes, Danzig, Hendo to name a few are all sponsored by One More Round.
This seems very shortsighted to me.  Dana and the UFC seem to be looking at money now rather than long term relationships (not that this is anything new).  A promotion like Strikeforce could arguably negotiate a smaller fight purse using the fact they can use whatever sponsors they want.  Fighter makes the same payday and strikeforce has more money to spend on other fighters.

I'm not saying the UFC is going down because of this move but I certainly don't see it being a sound business move.  Do NASCAR sponsors have to pay a fee of some sort to be allowed to sponsor a car?

Did Gray get hurt beating up Jim Miller?  I can't believe he'd have this long of a layoff when the LW class is so stacked.  The Miller fight was in March and if the Huerta does happen at Fight Night 19 that will be over a 6 month layoff.  Fighting twice a year has to make it tough on a guy to make a living regardless of sponsorships.

As much as I would like to see what he could do today I can't see any way a respectable MMA organization gives him a fight.
