which is unfortunate but also the part of any sport. Injuries sometime derail people who may have been the "best" at something.

I can ask Brewer but I'd be curious how "prepped" he was. Tom says in the interview it's the first he's hearing of it and that Brewer (SID) blindsided him with it. If a guy is on his way into the presser and gets told by the SID that "ramos just said he's leaving and blamed you" that isn't much prep, it's giving the guy a heads up. Did Tom read/hear what Tony actually said or was it a fly by? If you've seen the video I'd bet on the latter.

Lot of people were disappointed on Sat and Sunday though Vise, and didn't take to the press to go after their coaches who have been with them for the better part of a decade. I'll defend Tony for having the right to feel the way he does. I won't defend him for choosing the way he did to go about dealing with it. Especially a day later doubling down on it on a radio program.
You are right though, for getting blindsided in a presser and having no idea what had just happened I think we all got good insight into Tom Brands and how he feels about his guys.

TB brought in a former Hawk at my weight and trained him too.
TB said he'd stand in my corner and then he didn't.

This has got to be about something else deeper and it's just manifesting this way. If not, this makes Ramos and the sport look like shit. This will also negatively affect recruiting to some degree. I'm shocked that a former Hawk would put his feeeelzings ahead of the program. Go in a room, and discuss it with him like a man you pussy.
yep. the whole crux of my beef with Tony on this is he's doing it publicly for NO reason. Nothing will change doing this in the public eye. HE's not trying to gain sympathy or explain why he's holding out of a contract. You think Tom screwed you over, tell Tom, and Terry and move along. Find a new club and come back and stick it to them every chance you get if that's what you want to do. If you've seen the reaction on Iowa sites Tony has done NOTHING but hurt his legacy with this decision. He's gone from fan favorite "get him on staff" to "don't let the door hit you on your way out and don't come back". Of course not for all, but this is going to be what people remember and talk about for the immediate future.

Got worse today as he went on the radio and doubled down. He didn't take some of the bait the hack threw his way, but he didn't back off his butthurt feelings

That is what I was thinking as well Bob. Different tournaments worth different values, known ahead of time, but "bonus" points if you beat world-ranked guys. Can still have US qualifiers even weight them heavily if you want to put an emphasis on it.

I was thinking about your second point yesterday Ray. No offense to Frank the Tank, but does he give the US the best shot to medal, or even qualify the spot?
The fear is if it isnt' based on accomplishment it goes to a guy picking "his guys" that lead us to the current system. That said, there should be a way that guys earn their spots through wrestling in tournaments and qualifiers to give a clear picture on who gives us the best shot to medal. Without it being a one day, who's hot, tournament.

Someone just posted on HR that Tony is going to be on an afternoon radio show today. One of the guys is about as big a POS is there is and he will do/say pretty much anything he can to get people to tune in. I say that because I wouldn't put it by him to lie and say Tony was coming on to get people to tune in and then lie some more and say Tony canceled. I'm not kidding, dude is as slimy as it gets.
IF Tony is on, I really hope he's taken a day to think things through and isnt' looking to dump gas on the bridges that are currently ablaze. Talk to Brands, taking it to the court of public opinion accomplishes nothing. Nothing will be different tomorrow by airing dirty laundry of any kind, real or perceived.

I'm assuming Tony will rethink this once the anger and disappointment subsides BUT, there are other things too so who knows. Maybe he does go. That said, Mocco came back at one point in time, I doubt it's the last time Tony trains in IC.
I hope Tony realizes his anger is misplaced. Would he feel better if Dennis had been training at any other club? Would he feel the same way he does if he had won?
