2010-2011 Fantasy league discussion
« on: August 09, 2010, 06:14:53 PM »
Yes, I know it's early, but I started this to get input for any changes that you might want to see in the fantasy league this season. Do you want all tournaments to score, or just some like last season? Do we need to change the draft procedure? Any positive input is appreciated.
If you want respect, be respectful.

Keep an eye out for a new radio show from TOM

"Lost's Fantasy Wrestling Weekly"

We are in heavy negotiations with Lost about this one of a kind show!

I really think that we need to have every tournament score points for teams, with extra points going to the big events. This is how every other fantasy league for sports work. At least for scoring all events goes.

I agree every tournament needs to be scored with possible bonuses to the tougher ones.  Drafting should be based on wrestlers' abilities, not their team

I'm throwing into the hat the possibility of during the supplemental draft adding one extra spot on the roster.  So it would be drop two add two AND add one additional without having to chuck one of members of your team to the weeds.
I would keep the scoring tournaments the same....it encourages home work and eliminates score padding.  I do vote however that we use TOMs college rankings as opposed to Earl though....might as well keep it all in the hizzzouse.

This was just off the top of my head....I will give it a bit more thought.

I think scoring all tournaments makes you follow your guys even more, versus only following the big tournaments. Maybe if we give some love to the smaller events, and as fantasy wrestling leagues grow, those events will get more noteriety(?).

Of course, some tournaments are obviously lower, but some schools simply don't go to all the big events. So, it shouldn't discourage people from picking people from odd teams during the regular season.

Also, I honestly think, in our scoring we should pick one wrestler from D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO to be on our squads. Helps to develop more interest in the smaller divisions. Why should D1 get all the love?

I also think by doing so, this will set us apart from the rest of the leagues and encourage us to develop more than one league. We should really be creating numerous leagues with more league commishes. This is the only kind of real fantasy league we got. Might as well make the most of it. If you build it they will come.

Rock, would it be hard to find results for every d2, d3 juco and NAIA match?

In the past yes but what I've noticed of the teams out west is all programs seem to atleast post results. Just not in depth articles like d1. And if it is an issue, maybe if enough leagues are formed, and some schools aren't doing a great job of posting results, this would acknowledge to the schools there are fans interested and the coverage would improve. more fans would be bugging schools to post results. It would probably create more buzz and make new fans. And if it improves, everyone a winner. JMO

I don't mind doing the scoring either with selected tournaments or all tournaments. Scoring all would not really add that much work to it. Not sure about adding lower division wrestlers to the mix, but I will deal with whatever everyone decides.
