Although I was a very infrequent poster on themat.com the final straw for me was the Sesker column and subsequent deletion of posts.  One of my posts was deleted which did challenge the Sesker article but was in no way malicious or in bad taste.  I was just responding to the article with my point of view.  I did suggest that individuals could also email Mr. Sesker (which is public information on TheMat) directly but I never did post his email address.  I hope to be welcomed on this sight and look forward to maybe posting more often on wrestling topics.
Join the club brother. That is exactly why I was banned and I've been a strong supporter of USAW, but now I'm finding out that maybe its not worth it if this is how they are going to treat the people who keep them going in the first place.

I know some of the athletes are even having issues with what is going on there. Hearing some nasty stuff that isn't good.

Hey guys--thanks for all the welcomes!  I feel better already!

And, if we have had it out, I'm not sure what your other name was, but we both love wrestling, so squash the past and look forward to some awesome wrestling talk!

Sounds good. My name wasn't much different than it is here other than the fact I used my real name on the mat.

You know things are bad when even hawk fans are fleeing themat.com. I'm glad your here IA_Hawk! and that you also realized what they are doing is insane no matter what college you root for.

It would be great if we could get The_Historian a.k.a. Jay Hammond to come over from the themat forum.  He is a walking encyclopedia of wrestling.  I still remember when his username was hacked on themat forums and was used to spam the site.  It slips my mind as to what his old username was.  After that mess I don't think he has posted as much.  I have so much respect for his knowledge and loved reading his book "The History of Collegiate Wrestling"

Trolls and inattentive moderators just make for a shoddy forum.  Moderators who do not participate on a forum are a problem.  Censoring discussion of the forum itself plainly shows that the proprietors don't understand the medium they're operating.

In the short time that I've taken an interest in The Mat Forums (out of a long time I've known about them), I've seen each of these.  I'm thinking that substantive discussion of USA Wrestling itself is probably not safe, there, either.

This is an unacceptable situation.  I'm partly inclined to start making a fuss about it, but no matter what policy changes might be made, there's a conflict of interest there which cannot be avoided.  The government should not hold the reins of political discussion, and USA Wrestling is our government (or one of them, anyway).

On another note entirely, if this forum software supports threaded discussions (where replies nest in a tree-like fashion), for the love of God, turn it on.  Flat discussions are icky, and quoting the person you're replying to is a nasty workaround.
