Blast from the Past: TIM KRIEGER from ISU - What Happened????

One of the most intense high school wrestlers EVER in the state of Iowa - on par with the Brands twins....has a dynamite college career - was only behind once in a match........Then falls off the face of the earth after his career with ISU.

WHAT HAPPENED TO TIM??????

Tim is one of my favorite all time wrestlers.

He was the head coach for a time and the now defunct St. Thomas University. He turned the program and produced a top 5 teams,

He is now in the financial industry he in Minneapolis and does some youth coaching from what I hear.

To this day I still say he was the best wrestler i have ever watched . I watched him in high school and college. Three time state champion, 113-2. Four time big twelve champion and two time national champion. Would have won another national championship, but had a bad knee. He lost to scot turner from north carolina in overtime. He was good on his feet, on bottom, and on top. In college he was, 116-3-2. The last i knew he was living in Minneapolis. That was a while back. :)

His bad knee must have kept him out of post collegiate competition.  I remember when he locked up with the powerful Rick Novak from Iowa.  Novak was stacked - a complete brickhouse.  Krieger got him in a bear hug and tossed him on his head - pinned him.

I believe prior to Sanderson, kreiger was the only guy to get the #1 seed at the NCAAs four straight years.

Your right about the number 1 seed for four straight years and he hurt his knee his junior year and then had a couple operations over the summer. Tim then went on to win another national championship his senior year.

Comedian, Greg Warren, used to have a bit about the time he was ahead of Krieger and did something that caused Tim to call an injury timeout. One of the ISU coaches asked Greg, "What did you do that for? Now you pissed him off?" The timeout ended, the slaughter began and (if I remember the story correctly) a fall ensued.
