Donate Button Added... and Fixed
« on: May 14, 2011, 11:33:04 PM »
As you've probably noticed, there's a Donate button up in the page head.  I'm not entirely satisfied with it, so don't be surprised if it changes appearance or migrates.

Due to a missing tag, this button screwed up things for IE users today, preventing them from logging in or posting.  That is fixed, and should cause no more problems.  If, for some reason, you're still unable to post, try logging in with another browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.), and reply here.  Or email Viratas.

The button itself is fascinating, and I highly recommend it.  If you have trouble, send me your credit card information in a private message, and I'll be happy to help.  Though my keyboard is kind of old, and sometimes the 0 button sticks for a moment.

P.S. Someone donated, already.  Thanks.

I am not seeing a button.
Imagine the good that could be done, if people were less worried about their differences, and more worried about doing good for everyone.

I see it. On second thought do I really see it? Is it real or is my feeble mind playing tricks on me again? I believe that it is still there Ray I hope that helps..

Well I feel silly....it is on the news page....I see it ....I SEE IT!

I think the forum tab should be larger and a bit more eyecatching.....I have spoke with numerous people that didn't even know TOM had a forum section, even though they frequent the news page.

Yeah, there's one on the news page.  But there's one here, too.

If you know how to clear your browser cache, do that, and see if the button shows up.  Or, at least try a "hard reload"; on most browsers, that means holding down the shift key while hitting the reload (or "refresh") button.

The forum link on the news site certainly doesn't stand out.  I leave decisions about that sort of stuff to Viratas, though, as our SEO/marketing guy.

Thank you.  I enjoy messing with icons, as a change of pace.  Unfortunately, the space available was too small to put this in:

Oops... and they've disabled embedding on it, too.  Stingy bastards.

If I logout, I can see it. Once I login it is gone, very interesting.

I did what you said Ray but it is still there. I will take the next step and donate to see if that removes it. As much time as I spend on here  might as well pitch in.

Thanks again to the entire TOM crew for giving me a home away from home.
