3 times I was called into the judges chambers and 3 times they found their jury before I called. The problem is you just sit there. You can read anything, play with your phone, talk to anyone. One selection took close to 3 hours to interview before they got to 12. I'm not sure how I got on the bottom of all three lists. One was a rape case and the defense counsel was excusing every female and every other male. In the end he ran out of challenges and got stuck with 4 females swinging the panel 8-4 female.
The defense counsel asked one juror a question. He answered and then continued.....but, I can tell you if the defendant isn't will to sit in the box and tell his side of the story, he's guilty in my eyes. That caused the defense counsel to call a huddle with the judge and prosecutor. I thought sure the judge was going to dismiss everyone given the seed that guy put in everyone's head. He didn't though. No doubt that lawyer will cite that as cause for a mistrial if the jury convicts. The judge dismissed the guy after admonishing him pretty harshly and advising the others of the defendants right to not take the stand.
