It wasn't disclosed but the former owner who is deceased had a reverse mortgage which was uncovered during the title search.  The estate and title insurer are waiting to hear what the buyout value is so they can estimate the value of estate taxes to be held back in escrow. Apparently the reverse mortgage people need time to determine what is owed.  One would think it is a simple calculation.  Anyway today we signed a Use and Occupancy agreement which enables us to move in tomorrow and have quasi undeeded ownership.
