What is your first choice for home defence

Short barreled small caliber semi auto rifle with red dot sight from trijicon
12 gauge tactical shot gun with extended tube and trijicon red dot
Modern hammerless hi capacity 9mm or 40 cal auto loader with crimson trace laser
Magnum type revolver. .357-.44 mag
1911 type pistol.
I would not use a gun for any reason.

Bad communication on my part.  I want to get a permit and even take some time at a range and try out some weapons before purchasing.  I'm in no hurry and would like the gun for the range as much as home protection.  It's just me and I don't have much for someone to break in for, so I'm good with taking my chances with the old DeMarini if I hear a bump in the night.

My quick safe: .40 cal uzi eagle short slide, extra mags, and a .22 beretta back up.

.357 snub-145 gr silver tip HP's -fire a warning shot into the body trunk area then squeeze off 5 more rounds , reload (speed loader ) and see if the intruder is still breathing . then stop THAT.(don't want to get sued for ever )

Granted, its barrel is a bit longer than ideal for purely home defense purposes, but just the sound of working the action, is sufficient to scare the bejesus out of just about any thug robber.

I sleep with a hatchet and bushman knife at my bedside.  I prefer close quarter weapons because I have a fascination with the want to kill someone face to face.
