They fought. King Kong won. In the movie in which they fought, they were roughly the same size.

Not a fair match up at all! Kong was constrained by natures laws (he was Catholic), while Godzilla vacillated back and forth between Godzilla being a reaction of moral/natural order against the existing order (on one hand) and just a big lug on the other. By the lug standard, Godzilla no can lose (Kong can't get past the tail), on the existentialistic standard, Kong wins. Lugs favor, Godzilla,.... thinkers, Kong.....to a point!
