AGON V

Alright.  College season is over, but we've got a pretty big event coming up next week with former and upcoming college stars.  Who do you guys have in these matches?  I'm not sure if this fits on this board, but it doesn't really fit in International or high school either.

Ex-Hawkeyes on the left:
Brent Metcalf vs Aaron Pico
Tony Ramos vs Henry Cejudo
Matt McDonough vs Angel Escobedo
Derek St. John vs Jason Welch
Phil Keddy vs Deron Winn

Future Hawkeyes on the left:
#1 Justin Mejia (California) vs #2 Austin Gomez (Illinois) – 113
#1 Mike Kemerer (Pennsylvania ) vs #2 Fredy Stroker (Iowa) – 145
#1 Alex Marinelli (Ohio) vs #2 Josh Shields (Pennsylvania) – 160

I don't believe in being objective, so I'm going with a Hawkeye sweep.
I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Ramos vs Cejudo  Metcalf vs Pico. Hell this could be pay per view.  ;)

Seriously.  This is a better 'card' than many of the recent UFC events!

I think Ramos will win decisively

Seems like many of these guys who "come back" to wrestling in these events tend to get trounced.  Granted Cejudo has much better accolades than everyone who has tried but he's been on the mat what maybe 3-4 times in the last 7 years?  Can't see that going well for him unless this thing is at a weight of like 140.

Askren is undefeated in Agon. Bunch & Honeycutt have both been victorious as well. Its sort of 50/50 with the mma guys.

Askren is not undefeated - he was trounced by Clayton Foster in his last match, though he definitely has wins as well.  Though how many against full-time wrestlers?  I remember Wright and Poeta, though they aren't highly active in freestyle.

Honeycutt just got trounced by a much smaller Tyler Caldwell, like last week.   His win was over Raphael Davis, who is a fellow MMA guy who took the match on short notice.

Bunch beat another retired guy in Stephen Abas.

Guess I should have said the guys who come back to take on full-time wrestlers tend to get trounced.

Askren is undefeated in Ago. That match with Clayton was at FPL 4.

I can't help myself. Thanks to some very generous donors we are giving away 60 tickets to middle school wrestlers so they can attend this event.
