Quote
A group of unarmed US Marines on board a high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris foiled a terrorist attack after a gunman opened fire with an assault rifle, wounding three people.

The 26-year-old Moroccan national, who was known to security services, came out of the toilet brandishing the gun and opened fire. Fortunately, two US Marines were nearby and overpowered him before he could massacre passengers.

The suspected terrorist had at least nine full magazines of ammunition holding almost 200 rounds. He was also carrying a knife.

The people on that train should be grateful to them to the utmost.

Can't blame the other passengers. These men were trained to deal with such threats and knew exactly what to do. Thankfully the primer on the AK didn't function and it gave them just enough time to apprehend him before he did much damage. Then he got the butt end of the AK until he was unconscious. A fitting tribute!!

He's lucky it was Marines. If it was US Army personnel he'd have been gutted and partially devoured.

I am surprised it was an airman and a marine. Outside of qualifying in basic you don't see a get a lot of h2h training in the Air Force if you aren't special forces

Sorry, devil dog fans, no reports anywhere of marines involved in this.  One Air Force, one National Guard, and the third American a civilian, the three on vacation together.  From reports, the first one to lay hands on the guy was a French civilian who got cut up pretty bad, and the last guy to jump in was a British civilian.  I respect the marines, but like all service members, we're surprised to see the USAF in on this one - no making fun of the Chair Force for a while  ;)
