If that kid fails to win another state championship does anyone think ASU will honor that scholly?
Who said ASU even offered anything? After all, if they did, it would be an NCAA violation...
The NCAA rules applies to 9th graders for all sports except basketball which is 7th grade. This has become the latest among NCAA non-basketball coaches...hit them up in 7th or 8th, before the NCAA rule applies.
Bottom line, its non-binding until it's in writing on signing day of the senior year. It's a hot topic of debate and there's chatter amongst the NCAA authorities to extend the rule to lower grades. The most vocal are the academic elites with higher entry standards. They can't commit a seat to someone that doesn't have a grade on a transcript as yet.
As for honoring athletic aid, heck the non-revenue sports coaches can offer as little as they want when it comes down to it and shoo someone away.
