An Interesting First Week in the NCAA

3 in the top ten lose to the unranked.

Houston over Oklahoma - not a huge upset, but still an upset that will put Stoops back on the hot seat. Houston's Herman will move to a big time school end of season LSU?
(No way the 4 Texas teams allow Houston to become the 5th in the B12)

Wisconsin over LSU - despite LSU hiring away the Wisci D Coordinator who brought their playbook to Baton Rouge.  The fire under Miles' hot seat just got cranked up to roast

Texas over Notre Dame - Best upset of the weekend even if it was Texas that pulled it off. The fire under Strong's hot seat will be down to a simmer.

Despite my "Beat OU" indoctrination from childhood, I felt a little bad for Visegrip. I was pulling for the underdog in the other two, so I really enjoyed what I saw there.

That's why Saban immediately brought in Steve Sarkisian to join Alabama's staff.

NCAA is going to half to look at funding caps for coaching staffs.  Alabama's payroll expense is off the scale and entirely booster funded.

Interesting research out of Louisiana

Study shows defendants get tougher punishments following LSU upset loss

Upset losses hurt most fan-bases. But for LSU, it may hurt more; especially when it comes to judges who graduated from LSU.

According to a recent study, judges who received their undergraduate degree from LSU handed out harsher sentences following an LSU football upset loss. The study examined every defendant case file from 1996-2012 for juveniles in the state of Louisiana.

Well, football is vitally important.  Defendants should time their trials for way before or way after the NCAA football season.  They are just plain dumb if they don't.   ;D
