Marshall Code 50 guitar Amp
« on: June 01, 2017, 03:01:16 pm »
I just got this and it seems pretty good.  It is cheap enough, the sound is not bad, a little muffled and heavy on the bass.  But the neat thing is that it models 14 preamps, has all the effects within the box, models 4 power amps, and models 6 speaker cabinets.  Lots of different sounds.  I got it Monday, played a little on Tue.  It was plenty loud.  I lost some hearing in my left ear when I was in a band in college so didn't want to crank it.  Plenty loud at 2, no need to go to 11.

Last night (Wed) I played around with the effects.  It has a whole list of pre-effects that you would normally have pedals for, a whole range of chorus, flanger, compressor, etc effects after input, and reverb and delay also. I got some pretty cool sounds out of it.

I like it.  I don't think it is all that great from a purist's standpoint, but I'm just playing it a few times a week or so so I think it is pretty nice.  You can go on to youtube and see a bunch of videos on how to use it, or in comparison with other rigs.  Got it at Guitar Center for 15% off on Monday.  Normally $250.  It's a 50 watt amp so plenty of power to deafen the neighborhood.  But I would love to have a 100 watt head with a 4X12 cabinet.  But, this will suffice for now, plus it models that anyway.  Not the same but it is a nice amp.

Ha!!   Fortunately neighbors are mostly far away.  Live in a rural section with 1 acre lots or so.

Well, I haven't turned it up yet.  I will.  Interestingly, it also has a guitar tuner built in.  Seems to work pretty well.

The only musical instrument I can play is my stereo.  My brother-in-law has a guitar collection, so he would appreciate it.

There are no numbers on the knob, so I guess it goes to infinity.

If you count the lines starting with 0, then it goes to 10.  If you start with the first line and call it 1, then it goes to 11!!

It is nice sounding through the new amp.

Now all you need is an electronic ukulele to play through the new amp.
