U23 WTT
« on: October 05, 2017, 02:56:37 am »
Who ya got making the team?

57kg: I predict a Tomasello/Fix finals. This is the most anticipated bout IMO.
61kg: Mitch McKee should handedly win.
65kg: Expect a Eierman/McKenna finals. I'll take McKenna
70kg: Berger, Collica, and Mayes are all here.
74kg: Only Marsteller and IMar are registered. Shop smart.
86kg: Brooks, Jackson, Martin, and Pfarr are registered. I think it'll be a Martin/Pfarr finals.
97kg: Ty Walz
125kg: Kroells

Marsteller lost at the last second to IMart last time they tangled in freestyle.  That should be very interesting...

I still have no idea how Ty Walz makes 97 kilos

Ty Walz at that weight looks like if Shute and on roid Lesnar created a mixed clone.

What about Zahid?  Why is he not in the mix?

Will Saduleav show up?  He needs a WC this year.

Doesn't look like Zahid entered. My speculation would be because he's getting ready to make the drop to 174 for the season and 86kg is a bit too big. I digress, but....I think Zahid is the best guy in the NCAA level at both 174 and 184 (yup, I think Valencia > Hall, Jordan, Nickal, and Martin... he wrestles any of those guys 10 times, he wins at least 6 against any of them). I'm more surprised that guys like Anthony Valencia and Logan Massa didn't enter at 74kg.

I would be shocked if Sadulaev entered an event like this.

My question: Are all finals a Bo3?

Looks like nobody bothered to challenge Marsteller and Martinez. They have a Bo3 from the get go.

When will Fix get his comeuppance!!!   That kid seems to just keep improving.  Can you imagine beating and NCAA champ when you're 17 or 18?  That's quite the feat.

WOW!

I think the cut back to 125 for Tomasello is going to hurt him this year.  Dang, the kid is going to bust out of his skin if he flexes.

How many World Champions and runners up could qualify?

We know Gillman, Snyder, and Sadeulaev.  There's also Rashidov, Yazdani, Petriashvili.  So that is 6 of sixteen.

Not a bad showing by the U23 crowd.
