Leach doing well at WSU
« on: October 10, 2017, 06:25:31 pm »
Leach got the shaft in TX and I was really hopeful that he could do well at WSU.  It looks like a few years of waiting is paying off.  WSU is in the top 10 for the first time in a long time.

and to think Rutgers whupped them 2 years ago.  It amazing how a coach can build or tear down a program.

Well they beat Montana State, Boise State, USC, Oregon State, Nevada, and Oregon.  USC was ranked #5 when WSU beat them.

It has taken Leach a few years but his philosophy is catching on and he is now able to recruit players to little ole Pullman WA.

Funny how WSU's rise parallels UO's fall

Well WSU lost, but they are 6-1 and still in the top 20, which is way better than they were before Leach got there.  I think he has been a net positive in bringing the team back from obscurity.  There is talk that the Apple Cup (the UW/WSU rivalry) may go to WSU after years of no wins.

Leach seemed to get a raw deal from Texas Tech.  Craig James complained about the treatment his son was receiving.  (didn't bother Texas Tech years earlier when they hired extremely abusive Bobby Knight).
Several are on "ignore".   I won't argue with the ignorant and disrespectful..

"Pathetic"
- Leach commenting on his own team.

Yeah, that was after their loss.  They bounced back in stellar fashion this past weekend.

FWIW...... Mike Leach was the only D1 coach to offer Baker Mayfield a football scholarship in HS. (Thank God he didnt take it!)

Looks like it.  That is sad.   But there is not much in Pullman WA really.  Wheat fields for the most part.

yeah, I saw that after that too.  I would like to see Leach stay at WSU.  I think there is more he can do there.  But Tenn is a great offer if he can get it.  They had a winning tradition back when Majors was the coach.

I like Leach.  He is a bit of a kook and unconventional, but he gets results.

If not TN then another in time.   Schiano got a bum deal, but I don't think he was a good fit for' Tennessee.  Its tough for a northern boy to recruit the South.
