Top 20 albums of all time
« on: November 28, 2017, 05:09:41 PM »
So the radio station was playing the top 102 classic rock albums of all time (dating back to the stone ages I guess).  Number 15 was Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.  I really like the album and the bass lines that Dee Murray played in many of the songs got me very jazzed on playing the bass.  Top 20 albums were:

20 — DREAMBOAT ANNIE – HEART – 1976
19 — AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE – JIMI HENDRIX – 1967
18 — STICKY FINGERS – ROLLING STONES – 1971
17 — THE JOSHUA TREE – U2
16 — THE DOORS – THE DOORS – 1967
15 — GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD – ELTON JOHN – 1973
14 — II – LED ZEPPELIN – 1969
13 — I – LED ZEPPELIN – 1969
12 — THE WALL – PINK FLOYD – 1979
11 — LET IT BLEED – ROLLING STONES – 1969
10 — ABBEY ROAD – THE BEATLES – 1969
9 — ARE YOU EXPERIENCED – JIMI HENDRIX – 1967
8 — HOTEL CALIFORNIA – THE EAGLES – 1976
7 — WHO’S NEXT – THE WHO – 1971
6 — RUMOURS – FLEETWOOD MAC – 1977
5 — IV – LED ZEPPELIN – 1971
3 — THE WHITE ALBUM – THE BEATLES – 1968
2 — SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND – THE BEATLES – 1967
1 — DARK SIDE OF THE MOON – PINK FLOYD – 1973

I like "Wish You Were Here" (1975) better than "Dark Side of the Moon".  Both awesome.

Eagles - On the Border
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Uncle Charlie
Poco - Legacy
Several are on "ignore".   I won't argue with the ignorant and disrespectful..

I was wondering if the list based on record sales, or just someone's opinion, so I googled "top selling albums of all time" and got this list (which isn't just rock).  There are some awful albums on the best seller list, so it's just as well we went with someone's opinion.

Here's another list, with different albums.  You would think it would be easy and objective to list the top albums based on sales, but apparently not.

Here is Wikipedia's list.

Top selling albums are heavily influenced by mindless teenie boppers.  No thanks.

Interesting article, Ryou.  I would not have guessed that.  Anyway, I am not running for a public office so I can speak my mind.  I think most Americans are blathering idiots incapable of the simplest of mental tasks.  Jesse Waters' videos will confirm that.  Why else would American Idol, America's Got Talent, and Britney Spears be so popular?

Don't forget that Milli Vanilli was huge until they weren't.

Milli Vanilli was simply ahead of their time.

When listening to the radio, it sounds like voices are so autotuned or computerized that it is no longer a human voice I hear.

On the drive to work, I was trying to figure out which vocal chord is used to create the echo sound when the singer was projecting into the mic.

Of course, it was inevitable once instruments were replaced by a Casio.

How much longer until AI creates a #1 hit on the radio?
