On the Outside Looking In

Alabama

It doesn't matter who you lose to, it when you lose.

1    Clemson    11-1    (4-8 Syracuse)
2    Auburn            10-2    (9-3 LSU, 11-1 Clemson)
3    Oklahoma    11-1    (7-5 Iowa State)
4    Wisconsin    12-0
5    Alabama    11-1    (10-2 Auburn)
6    Georgia            11-1    (10-2 Auburn)
7    Miami (Fla.)    10-1    ( 5-7  Pittsburgh)

Georgia could skip over Alabama if it beats Auburn to avenge its only loss.  There's no question, Clemson would have long odds of getting in if it had lost to Syracuse last week instead of a month ago. Same as Miami with little chance of making after losing to Pitt in its final game..

I might add that if OSU beats Wisconsin, the B1G is not likely to be in the playoff.  All due to the competitive nature of the conference.

That and the fact that Wisconsin has had a pretty weak schedule to this point.  The bottom line is if they win, they are in.

When Alabama loses to Auburn, the season was a failure.  Period.  You can ask most fans in AL and they feel this way.

While the current system is technically a 4 team playoff, what we have in reality is an 8-10 team playoff with the major conference title games as the first round.

Unless somehow AL sneaks in there.  I am a huge fan but I don't think they deserve it.  Their season was ruined by the loss to Auburn, that humiliating loss.

4    Wisconsin    12-0

1    Clemson    11-1    (4-8 Syracuse)
                             vs.
3    Oklahoma  11-1    (7-5 Iowa State)
5    Alabama    11-1    (10-2 Auburn)
6    Georgia      11-1    (10-2 Auburn)

All things considered, if Alabama and Georgia lost to Auburn back in September and October , they'd probably be No 1-2 or 2-3 today

Agreed.  However that is impossible because AL only plays Auburn at the Iron Bowl on Thanksgiving weekend.  But I'm being very rigid with that.  I agree with your assessment.

Not as humiliating as getting halfahundred hung on you by Hawkeyes.

The political solution was to put in tOSU, they didn't do that which is a good thing.

Sugar Bowl: (1) Clemson vs (4) Alabama

Rose:Bowl (2) Oklahoma vs (3) Georgia

#6 Georgia leap fogs  # 3 Wisconsin & #5 Alabama

Ohio State's upset of Wisci was B1G enough to pass #7 Miami, Wisci and Auburn

I have to say I am conflicted.  The way AL played AUB was horrible.  But the fact that Auburn beat AL and is not going in  but AL is going in makes me smile.  The Tide lost the skirmish but won the battle.  Now on to win the war.
