NCAA Football playoffs
« on: December 03, 2017, 12:09:57 PM »
I couldn't believe that Ohio State was picked last year. Hard to believe that they will make it again despite winning over Wisconsin for the Big Ten title. Any chance they will pick USC instead of Alabama? Will find out shortly.

I think the committee got it right.

That 31-point loss to unranked Iowa was a stake to the heart.

I think Georgia should have been No.1 since Clemson lost to unranked Syracuse and Oklahoma lost to unranked Iowa State.

1 Georgia (lost to #7 Auburn, but convincing beat down of Auburn)
2 Alabama (lost to #7 Auburn
3 Oklahoma (lost to unranked Iowa State)
4 Clemson lost to unranked Syracuse)

Yes... GA did go back and beat Auburn. but it wasnt as bad as the beatdown that they took.
Who has Bama beaten? NOBODY worth a damn. In November Bama has looked pretty average.
Oklahoma lost to ISU at home. ISU also beat TCU and is a decent team. In November OU has looked very impressive.
Clemson lost on the road to a bad team but had a hurt QB. They totally destroyed a 1 loss Miami.

I think these seedings are just right.

Throwers make receivers.

Catchers make the QB.

All SEC Final.  Who says SEC is not a great football conference?

Bulldogs will get swept away by a Crimson Tide next Monday!!

The top two in the SEC are great, but the conference lacks depth this season.  The B1G is probably the best conference top to bottom this season.

That may be true Bob but there are no B1G teams in the final.

Let's look at history:

2014–15    Ohio State    vs Oregon    42–20
2015–16    Alabama    vs Clemson    45–40
2016–17    Clemson    vs Alabama    35–31
2017–18    Alabama    vs  Georgia       Crimson Tide drowns various bulldogs

That's 4 appearances to 1 appearance.

Not much of a dog either.  Best I could find on Youtube without a bunch of ancillary stuff.

Bama did show how impressive their defense can be when healthy, although their offense has been anemic.  It would have been interesting to see their D against the Oklahoma offense.
