What the chance that Rule 1.2.2 is being followed? As close as you can get to zero.

Here's the data.

Starting meets at 125 versus the schools and the news reporting scores starting at 125 skew the results.

Fundamentally, who cares ?  Everyone wrestles.

Exactly. Why have a rule that isn't followed or enforced?  An opportunity to shorten and simplify the rule book, if only in a small way.

The rule should be followed sim ply because it is a rule.  Refs should never pick and choose what rules they want to follow and what rules they want to ignore.  That prerogative seems to be solely in the hands of POTUS.
Several are on "ignore".   I won't argue with the ignorant and disrespectful..

I would guess your data is skewed by people who do their stats after the event is over and go with the lowest weight.

Either that or your users are from a state that doesn't care about the rules.

That's a good point as well.  Not following a rule, however minor (as might be the case here), can be a slippery slope.  On one hand, who cares? On the other, rules are there to be enforced.

Surprisingly, the referee isn't required to be present at an NFHS-compliant random draw.  It can be an "authorized person", a term left undefined in the NFHS rules.

Is there a specified protocol for the random draw in HS? I know there isn't in college.

The only difference is that the random draw is mandatory in high school, optional in college. No mention of how the random draw is conducted.
