Under the "Why'd I do that ? category.

Czechs win the shootout 3-2....up far too late to watch it ending in a loss.

Overall I think NBC did a great job segregating foo foo from fast on NBC, NBCSN and CNBC.

And, they probably saved a ton in travel expenses doing away with the local bio interludes that interrupt the action.

And still ratings are down.  I think they did too much of that foo foo and people expect it and won't watch.

That was true for me.  They botched too many Olympics over the decades for me to think they wouldn't also do it this time.  I gave up on them and only watched the games if there wasn't anything else of interest on the tube at the time.

Once they started the figure skating stuff, I quit.  Until then I watched the ski races and halfpipe stuff.  Love short track and long track racing too.  Didn't see as much as I wanted though.

Mostly trash sports.  Winter Olympics every 10 years would be fine.
I don't watch Fox News for the same reason I don't eat out of my toilet.

My current plan is to retire in two years, so I should have plenty of time to watch the summer games and complain about the NBC family of networks' coverage.  Since those games will be in Tokyo, the time difference will be a factor in the coverage.

Roughly the same as it was in Korea.

I didn't mind the V tape of most events and a lot from the evening were live....though some started at 1 AM.  I don't watch TV news so the V tape wasn't compromised by the news reporting the results.

Just hope the big tracks events are scheduled early AM Tokyo time, late evening EST.  PSTers will get more live action.

Luge is included in trash sports.   High tech sleigh riding.

Yep, high tech and nerves of steel and able to apply very small changes to keep the sled running a straight line.  Miscalculate, and death may ensue, certainly pain will ensue.  It is less trashy than synchronized swimming or rhythmic gymnastics which all are judged.  Luge is the tale of the tape only.

Thanks Buck.

I generally do not like judged competitions.  Figure skating, freestyle skiing (including jumps), Rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming are generally ones I really don't like.   Nordic jumping has some style points but length of the jump is a huge factor.  Gymnastics is judged, but dang, they are so strong and amazing, I will watch.  Boxing is all judged too except for knockouts.

That's just me.  My wife likes most of those judging sports.  But I think we can all agree the fru fru of athlete bios and things not competition are what weighs it down.  NBC has historically not shown much competition, especially if there is no USA athlete involved.  CBC shows it all whether Canadians are involved or not.  I like their coverage much better.  More competition, less fru fru.
