deepest weight this year?
« on: October 04, 2018, 07:30:27 PM »
I'm looking at 174: 2 NCAA Champs, 7 All-Americans, a bunch of savvy vets, and a couple of (potential) freshmen phenoms.

The Champs:
1. Zahid Valencia (ASU)
2. Mark Hall (PSU)

Returning/Former All-Americans:
3. Kemerer (Iowa)
4. Amine (MICH)
5. Lewis (MIZZ)
6. Kutler  (Lehigh)
7. McFadden (VTECH)
8. Rogers  (OKST)
9. Womack (Cornell)

Other Notable Returning Qualifiers (could be missing a few guys here):
10. Lujan (UNI)
11. Lydy (Purdue)
12. Sebastian (Northwestern)
13. Campbell (tOSU)
14. Harvey (Army)

Freshmen to watch out for:
15. Labriola (Nebraska)
16. Mantanona (Oklahoma)

Is there a deeper weight than 174 this year? I'm thinking maybe 125 or 133 depending on wherever Suriano/Fix end up. 165 and 184 are looking deep too.

If Fix, Lee, Suriano and Brewster etal all show up at 125 that will be pretty stout as well.

How come Yanni is not talked about.  The guy is phenomenal.  General question, I was just wondering.

Yianni is a super talent. He won 141 last year—arguably the deepest weight then. I don’t think there’s a guy at 133 who could come up and beat him, and I think he’d be the favorite to win at 149 this year too. He’s deceptively strong and athletic. Further, he’s probably the future of 65kg.

With that said, I believe 141-157 to be some of the more shallow weights this year along with 197-285.

Thanks for the explanation,

I had heard of Yanni all year last year and never knew a thing until the finals.  i was rooting for the kid from Wyoming, but Yanni was awesome.  Very exciting wrestler with a body awareness and fearlessness seldom seen.
