Guns
« on: December 19, 2018, 09:07:50 AM »
More people died from firearm injuries in the United States last year than in any other year since at least 1968, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
There were 39,773 gun deaths in 2017, up by more than 1,000 from the year before. Nearly two-thirds were suicides. It was the largest yearly total on record in the C.D.C.’s electronic database, which goes back 50 years, and reflects the sheer number of lives lost.

More people died from firearm injuries in the United States last year .................
..................Nearly two-thirds were suicides.

The answer is right there in your statement.  Quick, and for the most part, painless.  A high percentage would have offed themselves anyway, just by a different means. The 2nd cause is suffocation, i.e., hanging.  3rd-Poisoning, though its No.1 for females.

2,372 have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001.  Instead of getting out of Afghanistan we should get out of the U.S.

Exactly what I was thinking when I first read buck's post.  I guess buck prefers that they commit suicide by a long, drawn out suffering event.

Splattering your brains with a gun leaves quite a mess for family members.

You can be treating with a psychiatrist and still by a gun without lying on the FFA.  The FFA only asks about declaration by a judge or treatment inside a facility.  "Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective or have you ever been committed to a mental institution?"

Take note of the rise in suicide and the parallel rise in active shooters over the past 15 years.

Venezuelans think guns are good.   Gun ban is not looked at as a good thing.
