It is Zane
« on: September 03, 2019, 07:26:35 PM »
Zane won.  Beat Yianni 2-1.  Yiannni got the point from a disputed call that did not go Zane's way with the block throw.

Not good for Yianni.

I still see Yianni as the future for that spot.  I think that Zain had a great game plan and did a fantastic job of shutting Yianni down when he needed to but I see Yianni making larger jumps than Zain and taking the spot from him soon.

Yianni will have his day, but not in 2020.

And will Zane be able to peak for his best shot at a medal?  And will Yianni not go U23 and instead be Zane's travel partner and practice dummy?

Disabling injuries abound in this sport.  Evidence Taylor and Ashnault.  Would Yianni risk a year off and lose his chance for an Olympic berth next year? Is a U23 gold worth the risk this year?

Yeah but he won his first NCAA as a true frosh with a torn ACL from the semifinal match.

One tough dude.   Besides, Bo is doing it.

Maybe that is it, if some PSU guy does it, then a Cornell guy no way!  Besides he already has two Cadet WC golds.

I don't think that this hurt Zane's peaking at all.  Most guys were doing simulation matches, this was the best type of simulation match you can get.

Didn't Yianni tear his ACL in the quarters?
