I thought the Hawkeyes we’re toast when DeSanto gave up 6 on the injury default. Pretty impressive overall.

It was not a surprise to see Cassioppi win but Warner and Kemerer came through big time!

Yes they did! I was shocked at how K took down Hall.

When was the last time someone put up 11 points on Hall ?

What did DeSanto pull to add on the team point deduction after tapping out.

I think I read it was a  “mat control” issue - and I heard Tom Brands owned up to it

Doug Schwab was funny in his weekly presser talking about he was kind of jealous that he was at a UNI hoop game and the coaches were all over the court but were not penalized at all.

I was thinking the same thing regarding the 11 points. Probably back in Middle School.

DeSanto just flat out quit.  Sad day for Iowa wrestling.

You know he tapped just to prevent the fall and then defaulted out just to keep the F off his record for seeding.

They knew what they were getting.  It's not like he hasn't done that before.

He's a total head case.  Will be very interesting to see how Tom Brands deals with this situation.  Cowardly act.

AJ Epenesa, likely 1st round NFL draft pick, was overheard walking out after the dual saying “That was badass!” Nice compliment from the football peeps.

Quote from: Hawk Central

DeSanto was lying flat on his back in anguish in the first period after an early scramble. The high-octane junior tried to continue but ultimately looked over at his coaches and said, “I can’t go.” The match was a medical forfeit, worth six team points for Penn State.

Brands later said Paul Glynn would replace him at 133 on the trip to Michigan State. It could be seen as good news that DeSanto rejoined his teammates mat side late in the dual. He was not wearing any protective wrap or brace around his knee, but he was limping.

“I don’t know how much he’s been injured like this," Brands said. "I think he maybe could have handled that a little bit differently, being calmer on the mat.

“I think if we could have gotten him calmed down a little bit, we could have gotten back in that match."

Gotta believe DeSanto will be back for the Big Ten tournament regardless of the extent of the injury. It looked really bad when the foot was flipped out and then lifted and pulled hard forcing the knee to move in a way it isn't supposed to, but if it was season ending then he probably wouldn't have limped his way back out to the bench later that night. I was there and glanced over at the bench from time to time. He wasn't able to jump around with the boys during the big matches, but he was able to stand and walk with support.
