I remember when he crushed his vert head first into the hockey wall.  The kid was a true freshman and not on the ice more than 15 secs in his first game.

I've never heard of him.  I looked him up and it is a sad story.  But it looks like he didn't let it impede his happiness or fulfillment in life.  Sad he is gone, happy for his happy life.

I was doing my masters with BU that year.  I've never seen an entire campus community shut down like that one did.  It was probably two weeks before it came back to life.  Dining halls which are normally loud were dead quiet.  BU was coming off the NCAA championship the season prior.  The accident killed the buzz for the entire season.  The skaters just didn't have that edge that normally follows a championship.  Some even wanted to cancel the season.

New Englander here. I come from a family deeply involved in the hockey community.  There has been a lot of texts flying back and forth from my family members. Such a sad story. The Travis Roy foundation raised millions for people with paralysis.

Same here.  Spent many years in ice rinks with my kids hockey.  Everyone is greatly sadden by this.
