Hand Shakes

Laughing at the no hand shakes after a 7 minute wrestling match.  Can anyone explain it?

NCAA guideline for all sports with no exceptions, drawn from the overall CDC guideline. No raised arm either.

..and will hold for the championships, no arm raised for the champ.....isn't that one of the photos every champ wants to have?  Not this year.

It's very very dangerous to raise the arm.   Might get covid!!!   From where?  The armpit?  Yeah, right.  They've been tested and cleared.  No covid there.  Ridiculous.

Two wrestlers have been hanging all over each other, sweating all over each other, breathing each other's air, but by God they have to be protected from that handshake.


I really want the name(s) of the idiot(s) who made these rules.

Depends on the state. Not all states are mandating that. We aren't.

Florida - the kids have to wear masks while in the stands, not on the mat.  The ref doesn't raise the kid's hand, he holds up his own arm with the red or green wrist band and the winner raises his hand.

Yep.  It's a bit of a down year this year, but they have historically been on the fringes of the top ten states- usually in the 10 -15 range.

(And yes, I chose to answer seriously instead of facetiously.)

No, wrestling won't be stopped just for the mask coming off. It can be fixed on the next natural stop in action. They are treated as any other special equipment.
