Maybe we shouldn't have moderators at all, most posters on this board are self proclaimed libertarians, and a key tenet of libertarianism is limited government.
I think here you run into a paradox. Libertarianism allows for private autocracies; indeed, that's one of the virtues of the system to many libertarians. Conversely, many liberals (in the American sense of the word) wish to expand the power of government precisely to limit the power and discretion of private enterprises.
So what that comes to is, since you are not obliged to participate in this forum, we need not uphold the same standards of free speech that a government should. Indeed, I think that we'll need to employ limited censorship to uphold community standards, and that our success will depend, to some extent, on how well we do so. I do think, though, that erring on the side of leniency is a good thing. We want
mostly open dialogue.
