Title: Fulbright Scholarship
Post by: a guest on April 01, 2010, 02:35:06 AM
I know I have mentioned this before.  However, has anyone here thought about applying for a Fulbright Scholarship?  I work with a woman who was a Fulbrighter 20 years ago.  She was a fine arts student from California. She came here to India to learn about Indian folk dances....and got a Fulbright Scholarship to do it.  She went back to the US and added that to her teaching repituare (sp?).

In many countries, wrestling is a big deal.  Many have their own style of wrestling that is unique to their culture and history.  With that said, are their any students, teachers or scholars that would be interested in applying for a Fulbright Based upon "sports diplomacy"?  I wonder if this could give the sport a push back home as well.

Anywho, here is the State Department's page on the Fulbright:

What are the parameters of the program? Is it open to non academic or non humanitarian studies?

Anyone who wants to learn, share, and bring back the knowledge they acquired through the program is eligible.

Wresting is so intertwined with history and cultures throughout the world, that there automatically is an academic aspect to the sport.
