My list is as follows
1. Kenny Monday
Pros: Has ALL the bonafides, has worked wonders in TX. Excellent OK roots
Cons: Might not have degree. Might HATE Sooners
2. Rob Koll
Pros: Has good college career, has done very well at Cornell, dad was coach
Cons: No local connections, Not a stellar FS career
3. Mark Branch
Pros: Excellent OK roots, Great assistant under Smith, excellent college career, great teacher
Cons: Virtually no FS career, very little head coach experiance
4. Mark Neumann
Pros: Established head coach credentials, Ex-Sooner asst, decent OK connections
Cons: May like it where he's at better
5. Rob Waller
Pros: De facto coach today, son of a coach, good OK connections
Cons: Virtually no FS cred. Not a particularly stellar college career
6. Terry Brands
Pros: Iowa intensity, good career in college & FS
Cons: Bad temperment for head coach, No OK connections (except John Smith lol)
7. Brian Smith
Pros: Smilar to newman but w/no OK connections, Can hire fuzzyhead
Cons: Same as Newman
8. Tom Borelli
Pros: Same as Smith & Newman but with less talent & no fuzzyhead
Cons: Same as Newman & Smith
Others worth looking at? (besides Metcalf)

Some young guys maybe. Hartung should be on a radar... Marty Morgan...
What about Bono leaving UTC
I would Hire Johnny Johnson.. Has OK ties, was a great assistant at MN and has done good with Stevens point and the WI Jr. Program..
Also, consider Kevin Black.
-
I don't think that Bono would be a good fit ... heck he ran UTC down in less time than it took Brands to build VaTech up.
-
You may want to move TB up on your list, at least that's the rumor down here.

He's definately an overachiever as a coach.
I'd like to see someone with a better FS background and someone that local coaches and wrestlers are familiar with.
I think that for everything that Borelli brings to the table, Koll brings more.

What DID he do at WSP?

There's one guy out there that OUGHT to be on this list, but the perception is he just cant get along, and thats Mark Schultz. Its a pity too, because it looks like he did a decent job at BYU. His back maybe just too damaged to be an effective coach as well.
-
Also, what about Troy Steiner?
-
What's Hartung up to in Minny??
-
Not much really he should be coaching somewhere
-
Also, what about Troy Steiner?
Troy Steiner
Pros: Iowa system, good college experiance
Cons: Not much FS cred, no head coaching experiance, no OK ties
Another Zalesky?
Speaking of Zalesky....
Andre Metzger
Pros: Excellent collge career, very good FS credentials. Ex-Sooner, still resident
Cons: No real coaching coaching experiance, questionable temprement
-

I thought he went back to Minny for financial reasons/business opportunity.
Troy would be very good but I'd like to see him stay with Z for a bit longer and get that program to the top.
-
What about Shawn Charles? You know he's looking for a HC position somewhere.
-
Tiger thats a good point and I think he would be a very good option.
-
Ray Brinzer - OK, IA and PA ties, Greco guy and maybe crazy enough to do it.
-
Ray Ray, is my personal all time Favorite character
-
And we're still waiting for you to tell us some Ray stories.
-
Sorry I will today

interesting call w/ Kevin Black V. he's got his school up in River Falls now and besides that, i'd think he needs some years as a bona fide assistant. he might've done it for a couple years at UW, but not many. nice to see him stick around the sport in any capacity though, he has a lot to offer.
good list overall vise-grip. i get so sick of seeing schools accept mediocrity (or worse, hello michigan state) year after year, especially when that school has as much tradition as OU.

Just keeping you honest. I love to hear stories about Ray. I wonder if he still has Gumby for a companion?
-
I am sure he is around..

Don't think its gonna happen VG, as much as I think a change is needed you have to admit the Sooners are wrestling a helluva lot better than they did last year

We'll STILL finish last in the Big 5

Branch would be a great coach but he's at Wyoming. Spates actually hasn't done that bad a job.

It'll be a tight fit between us and OSU for last place.... and I dont think we'll win.

Both Oklahoma schools expect a lot of success. As I said before I go to OU duals at times. Norman's closer to my home than Stillwater.
-
I think OSU is gonna win Bedlam II.

One More I like:
Erick Guerrero:
Pros: Stellar college Career, Great Freestyle Career nationally good internationally, Coached under John Smith, Great OK connections
Cons: May not like OU, has to coach against his mentor in the biggest match of the year
