Title: Green, Gwiz, Burroughs, Cox
Post by: mspart on September 20, 2019, 11:09:54 AM
Well,

Green 1-1 and out
Gwiz  0-1 and out
Burroughs, made it to Semis 3-1 lost to Sidakov will wrestle for Bronze
Cox  3-0 and going for Gold!

I am surprised at Gwiz, he lost and then the guy that beat him lost and then the guy that beat him lost.  Not sure what happened there.
Green, is good in USA, not so much anymore at WC's.

Burroughs had a good run, lost to Sidakov 4-3, just couldn't get in the other gear I guess.   Big bracket.
Cox just chunked through and is in the finals.

So we have at least 1 medal in six weights, possibly 2.

Burroughs has made a career out of winning at the very end.  Sooner or later that is going to come back to bite you.  I thought that Gwaiz was on a level just below Gino and Akgul, almost by himself.  I would have bet he would of wrestled for a medal.  Cox might be the best American wrestler right now.

He’d have to arm wrestle Dake for that honor. We’ll see how Dake compares.

Interesting observation.  He got one point on a pushout, but it was a takedown try that Sidikov whizzered so it was only a pushout.  That would have been the difference between a try at bronze and a try at gold.

Burroughs took Bronze  by Tech fall.

Cox took Gold.   A lot of folks expected this of Burroughs and are now talking Cox a PFP best American.

So far 74, 97 are qualified for the Olympics.
