College / Re: Kirkvliet Enters Transfer Portal!!!

Was quite the week for the Transfer Portal last week, with Busiello, Kerkvliet, and Saylor all entering the portal, and all rumored to be University Park-bound...

If I'm not mistaken, both the EIWA and EWL will be on Flo.

High School & Lower / Re: Not so Random
« on: February 15, 2018, 11:36:47 AM »
Starting meets at 125 versus the schools and the news reporting scores starting at 125 skew the results.

Fundamentally, who cares ?  Everyone wrestles.

Exactly. Why have a rule that isn't followed or enforced?  An opportunity to shorten and simplify the rule book, if only in a small way.
The rule should be followed sim ply because it is a rule.  Refs should never pick and choose what rules they want to follow and what rules they want to ignore.  That prerogative seems to be solely in the hands of POTUS.

That's a good point as well.  Not following a rule, however minor (as might be the case here), can be a slippery slope.  On one hand, who cares? On the other, rules are there to be enforced.

Surprisingly, the referee isn't required to be present at an NFHS-compliant random draw.  It can be an "authorized person", a term left undefined in the NFHS rules.
Is there a specified protocol for the random draw in HS? I know there isn't in college.

College / Re: Should there be a new #1 at 197?

I want to see who gets placed in the rankings this week.  Is  Shakur back in this week?  Why don't they just do a combined ranking,,,,,, Shakur / Cassar.
Well, in the abacus (which Shakur never left, of course), we have a new #1 this week...Rasheed jumped past Weigel into the #1 spot, on the strength of his 11-2 win over Wilcke (Weigel didn't wrestle in either dual this weekend, if I'm not mistaken).

Miklus hammered Weigel so hard you can't find the nail.

Moore is still no. 1.
HA!

I should've clarified...my abacus had Weigel #1 to begin with...;)

« on: January 07, 2018, 06:18:48 PM »
Penn State at Rutgers January 28 sold out last night.  First time for RU wresting.  Since the seating layout is different and larger for wrestling, it will set a new attendance record for The RAC. For those without tix, it will be aired on BTN 2 p.m. EST.

While a win is not expected  ::), it will be a huge day for recruiting.
Not even at 125?   :D

So...Who is going from PSU.  A local guy headed home for Christmas break or will it be a starter or backup trying to put pressure on the guys ahead of him (197)?

Brady Berge 157 FR

Penn State will likely have 7 #1 seeds at the Scuffle. Could see an all Penn State final at 197, Cassar vs McCutcheon.  McCutheon could get his singlet back if he takes the title.
And Corey Rasheed could very well be the one to break up that all-PSU final there as well.

Pretty sure you'll see Mizzou and Cornell scrap.  UNC as well.  I think Mizzou's other opponents will be Rider and Kent St.

Being reconsidered due to student outrage and major football doner's objections.
BSU's response to that reporting: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Despite the weakness over the passed few years, Iowa State still has a great fan base.  What's up (or down) at Michigan ?

16 Michigan                1217

An arena that doesn't hold much more than that.

1800 so they are not even close to selling out.
Well, they did sell out Iowa, and had 1,652 for Lehigh (I was there for that one, my first ever visit to Cliff Keen Arena). That leaves roughly 962.5 apiece for their four remaining duals (namely Virginia, Minnesota, Maryland, and Rutgers).
