Off-Topic / What are you playing?
« on: April 06, 2017, 03:20:49 PM »
What games are you playing as time killers at work or home or during your stinker tinker time?

I have three games on my mobile phone at the moment:

Crusaders of the Lost Idols - a clicker/idle game that allows you to build formations and complete missions.  not a rpg or a strategy came specifically, but a lot of fun.  I played on my computer at work for over a year & with the new app can play on the go now as well.

Boom Beach - I decided to choose between Clash of Clans & Boom Beach on my phone and since I was already maxed on the latter and bored I kept Boom Beach. Build a military installation and go to war.

Candy Crush - this should be called Candy Crack!  I have taken it off my phone and re added it a bunch of times.  I'm not farther than anyone else I am facebook friends with who play (upper 2,000 levels).  it's a move them around matching game.

in the Pac.
ASU picks up 5 Champs and wins their first championship in 11 years. Stanford took bad losses early that doomed them. ASU went 5-2 in the finals which ain't bad. The two who lost were lower seeds who upset their way in.  ASU will probably be the top dog for a bit now.

1. I love how the Gopher huddle shoved Gilman away and then Lizak didn't acknowledge him til he walked to the center. Whole time Gilman is bopping  around trying to shake his hand. Great return gamesmanship by Gopher.

2. Lizak takes immediate advantage of Gilman's lack of leg defense. Let's be honest the way to beat him is to shoot early and often so that he can't use his own attacks. Great game plan and it worked.

3. 2 & 2  if you're going to take him down capitalize and get NF. Which Lizak did. And then did it again for 4 using a solid top game & using the Ness roll exceptionally.

4. Taking top. Lizak had already run it up 8-0 and you knew he would take top to basically limit Gilman to one period to come back, or at least that was the plan. It nearly worked too.

5. Here comes the storm! The second Gilman got free you knew it was going to break and Lizak honestly looked unprepared suddenly. His game plan fell apart in the face of the onslaught. Conditioning? Did he basically blow his whole wad the first 6 minutes?

7. This looked like one of the old Iowa matches under Gable. Gilman, the bench, the fans, no one seemed worried by the 8 point deficit.  He started to chip away and there was a sense of anticipation to it.

8. The Fall! Come on I don't care how crazy the bench looked or the lost point  (well worth it). He broke Lizak and he hadn't even taken the lend yet (he would have with the nearfall). Grace & Ironside on the radio were great. Gilman was looking for it and when Lizak started to look weak he turned it over.

9. INSTANT CLASSIC

College / Iowa vs Oklahoma State
« on: January 11, 2017, 12:05:14 PM »
last year this dual went 5-5 with the Hawkeyes scoring bonus at 125 and 184.  this is damn near a toss-up from top to bottom with only a few exceptions on each side. let's start with what we know, Gilman and Heil ain't losing.  after that there are favored guys, but an upset is possible.

125:  Gilman v Piccininni
Hey it's a matchup between two ranked guys!  Yeah Gilman will probably get bonus of some sort here, let's be honest he is the Hawkeye Hammer for a reason.
Iowa 4 - OSU 0
133:  Clark v Brock
This is Clark favored, but Brock capable of upset.  It will come down to Brock keeping pace late and finishing early takedowns on Clark.  I'm going to lean with Clark here, but I think it's a good match.
Iowa 7 - OSU 0
141:  Carton v Heil
another ranked match?  listen Carton had a good weekend, but settle down.  Heil is great.  I said it.  If he were inclined he could probably earn bonus here, he won't, but he is capable of it.
Iowa 7- OSU 3
149: Sorensen v Collica
and ranked again.  listen all Sorensen does is beat guys not named Retherford.  Collica is not named Retherford.  therefore Sorensen wins.  even though come on let's be honest this is once again a match that even though one guy is favored the other guy is capable of the upset.
Iowa 10 - OSU 3
157: Kemerer v Smith
would you believe another ranked matchup?  listen Kemerer is a monster on his feet when he attacks.  he when doesn't he gets taken down more often than not.  Kemerer already has a big win on his record this year and I think he has what it takes to get another.  Smith of course is very capable of pulling an upset so this is a toss-up, but I'm leaning Kemerer
Iowa 13-OSU 3
165:  Gunther v Rogers
and they're both ranked.  listen Gunther had a huge win against Hughes let's be honest.  but he is no barn burner is seems super slow on his feet at times.  what he does do is have a high motor and move forward looking for high crotches and singles.  Rogers should win this.  He'd better win this or they might run his ass out of town. (disclaimer, if they pull the Bull's redshirt I bet he wins this match!)
Iowa 13 - OSU 6
174:  Meyer v Crutchmer
and they're ranked.  listen if Meyer doesn't get taken down in the first period I guarantee he wins this match.  if he gets thrown to his back again well then it's going to be another close at the end loss for him.  Crutchmer is favored and should be.  but he is going to want to get to the legs early and finish a couple of scores in the first to lock it up.  I think he does
Iowa 13- OSU 9
184:  Brooks v Boyd
you noticing the trend yet?  ranked guys.  IF Brooks doesn't go to his back he wins.  it's that simple.  Boyd is good, but a Brooks finishing leg attacks is really really good.
Iowa 16 - OSU 9
197: Wilcke v Weigel
oh yeah OSU is very favored in this match.  I'd call bonus, but Wilcke for some reason seems hard to bet a lot of points on.  Maybe a major though which would make this dual really interesting.
Iowa 16 - OSU 13
Hwt:  Stoll v Schafer
by ranking Schafer is favored.  I like Stoll in the match though.  he is big strong and his athleticism catches people by surprise.  Schafer is fast and can attack the legs, but will need to finish fast.  let's say Schafer hold seed and BOOM tied dual and we head to criteria
Iowa 16 - OSU 16

razor thing dual here.  125, 141, 197 are probably givens.  it will come down to who can win the most matches at the other weights.
