Off-Topic / Zodiac Killer's Cypher Finally Solved
« on: December 12, 2020, 05:51:55 AM »
A few cypher experts and coding expertise solved the 51 year old enigma that stymied code breaking pros from around the globe, but it took them 14 years.

I HOPE YOU ARE HAVING LOTS OF FUN IN TRYING TO CATCH ME
THAT WASNT ME ON THE TV SHOW
WHICH BRINGS UP A POINT ABOUT ME
I AM NOT AFRAID OF THE GAS CHAMBER
BECAUSE IT WILL SEND ME TO PARADICE ALL THE SOONER
BECAUSE I NOW HAVE ENOUGH SLAVES TO WORK FOR ME
WHERE EVERYONE ELSE HAS NOTHING WHEN THEY REACH PARADICE
SO THEY ARE AFRAID OF DEATH
I AM NOT AFRAID BECAUSE I KNOW THAT MY NEW LIFE IS
LIFE WILL BE AN EASY ONE IN PARADICE DEATH

The first cypher from the Killer was solved by a couple a husband and wife team that taught in high school.

The Zodiac has never been caught.

Off-Topic / Sunset December 21 - The Christmas Star
« on: December 10, 2020, 08:18:18 AM »
Over the next two weeks, the planets Saturn and Jupiter will move closer and closer together in the sky until Dec. 21, when they will overlap to create a single bright star - known as the Christmas Star  The alignment hasn't occurred for over 800 years.

The best time to view the Christmas Star will be to look southwest as the sun sets.

If you have a strong enough telescope, they will appear separate but the combined reflections from the sun will allow moons from each planet to be seen.

High School & Lower / 20-21 Season
« on: November 20, 2020, 09:31:33 AM »
NJ just pushed the 20-21 season back to a mid March start  Ends mid April, no state tournament. Conferences can run a 1 day end of season tournament in mid April, no spectators, not even family.  The season now coincides with baseball, lacrosse and track...and will be sure to lose some wrestlers.

College / 5 years of Eligibility
« on: November 08, 2020, 09:57:57 PM »
This hasn't been posted but is worthy of some discussion.

Back in October the NCAA granted a 5th year of eligibility to all student athletes participating in winter sports during the 20/21 season.  Essentially, there will be no red shirts this year.

There are a select few wrestlers like Spencer Lee that could become 5 time All Americans, since he was bestowed the All American designation in lieu of the cancelled tournament. Nick Suriano was out on an Olympic waiver last season and this year will be his 4th year of eligibility. He too gets the 5th year and the potential to add 2 more championships to his bio.

On the other hand, guys like Penn State's Mark Hall got screed in the deal.  2019-20 was his 4th year of competition, 3 time finalists that missed out on a likely 4th All American title, if not 4th time in theh finals, and a 2nd title. In order to get the extra year, the wrestler needs to be eligible and on a roster.  In the NCAA eyes his eligibility, 4 years ended last March.

So seniors like Hall, Kollin Moore and Vincenzo Joseph miss out on the title shot that was cancelled., not being eligible this year, but every wrestler on the roster this season, including the incoming freshman that weren't harmed by the cancellation of the tournament, also get the 5 years of competition.

Off-Topic / Daylight Savings Time

It's more like Daylight Taking Time

Bring it back.  This is the worst day of year.  Nothing happened and they are telling you to turn your clock back and lose an hour of daylight.  Now we are stuck with it for 4 months.  On the east side of the time zone it makes a huge difference.  At least those on the west side of the zone get an hour of more day light than the east side.

Gales Sayers - 77

The argument will never end.

Gales Sayers only 68 games, but had he a career as lengthy as most he may as well have proven to be the best
