College / Div I Fall Sports Extra ligibility Year
« on: August 23, 2020, 08:04:39 AM »
NCAA just approved an extra year of eligibility for fall sports even if the team (ACC Big 12, SEC) competes this year.  That leaves winter sports without the extra year.  That decision is likely a wait and see what happens answer.

Everyone gets the extra year, 6 years to complete 4 years of compete, which is essential 2 red shirt years

Football teams are no longer bound by scholarship caps. But, it is the team's decision on who gets the extra year on scholarship, there's no obligation to retain the athlete.

If the winter season is shuttered, no doubt NCAA will offer the same for winter athletes and some wrestlers will have 7 years to participate in 4 if they opted for the Olympic waiver.  add in an injury, and you could have 8 years at college to compete in 4.

The MAC cancelled fall sports.  Early word is the B1G presidents have cancelled too in an AM meeting today.    I'll hazard a guess they have gone back to the ADs and asked for justification to not kill the season.  Not for nothing but winter sports are just around the corner and will get caught up in the fall mayhem.  Don't expect to see any wrestling until January....maybe.

Its unthinkable, but this could well be a year with 0 collegiate sports with the exception, maybe, of golf.

New York Giants cornerback Deandre Baker and Quinton Dunbar of the Seattle Seahawks wanted for 4 counts of armed robbery and 4 counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.  Apparently they went to party and robbed other guests of cash and high value watches at gun point..

Both have $10 M+ contracts..  How freakin' stupid can a person be?
