I haven't made it to the California State Fair in several years. The last time I went, I thought the agriculture exhibit halls were really good. How are those in Oregon?

I've never lived in Texas but I've been to more Texas state fairs than Oklahoma state fairs.

Ever since they moved the NJ  State fair to the Meadowlands it's been nothing but a drug fest.  Nothing but carnival rides and food trucks.  No one dares to take  the kids.  The county 4H fairs are small but much more kid friendly.  One guy brings in a excavating shovel and the kids get to operate the dig. All of the show animals are penned for petting and if you pay the owner a buck, they give you something to feed the animal.  It costs me more to feed the animals than to buy lunch or dinner.  The largest was held at a dirt track and the held stock car races all day.  You could easily spend 8 hours there.  The race track track owner sold out and a Lowes and supermarket now take its place.  The fair was moved to a much small park and is not near as big as it once was. No auction, no booths with handicrafts and the state now prohibits the sale of home made food goods which killed the canned goods competitions.  A ribbon winner for jarred pickles or relish could make a bundle off the after competition sales.  No homemade pies, nothing, thanks to the democratic legislature.

WA is in the top 10!!   We never went to the MN fair when we lived in Apple Valley.  Too many little kids to get lost and they would just walk away.  In fact, after many years and we moved to Seattle, we finally said to ourselves that the kids are big enough not to go walking off by themselves.  So we went.  Our youngest son walked off.  He got escorted back to us by the police.  That is a nerve wracking experience.  He stayed right with us the rest of the day.  Word

Where in Washington do you live?  Oregon state fair is decent sized but I still don't trust my kids to wander around it by themselves.  Our county fair is tiny, no rides, only about 3 vendors, mainly just animals and then we do either a Demolition derby or Bull Riding in the evening.

I live east of Seattle out in the County.  We went to the County fair in Enumclaw, but just for the rodeo.  Meanest bulls I've seen in a long while.  One guy got his head dinged in the cage and had to be replaced, that bull was a little feisty.

In MN, we went to an Indian rodeo, where all the participants were Native American.  There was a giant pow wow there too.  My wife liked that, I didn't care for it so much.  But the bull riding was good except for one guy that fell off an the bull came after him before the clowns could do anything.  He got his head hoofed.  He got up and staggered to the middle of the arena.  Now in those situations, you go to the fence to get out of there.  He obviously didn't know where he was and the clowns were trying to keep the bull from him.  They finally got him out of there but that was rough.

Rodeos are pretty violent, like a gladiator show.  You know someone is going to get  hurt and you pay money to see it word.
