The difference is that PSU has a history of covering up problems or looking the other way.  Examples are Long and Sandusky. (tongue in cheek...sort of)

We have not heard anything about Sherlock and Kr says that Ruth has been disciplined though there are no charges, but won't say what it was.  You would think that transperency would be an automatic at Penn State these days.

Sherlock, what's the story?

Save your problems for another day so you can win right away.

That seems to be the philosophy in State College.  Worked out well for Long, and the football team.

uh, thats ridiculous.

Is it really?

yes, it is.

i've think you're a good rational poster. but don't be 'one of those'.

at least not in-season.

every program has had their issues. and kids are going to inevitably screw up. liowa and psu had some underages (lets be honest, college kids are gonna drink. the only difference is getting caught). osu had half their team in a bar and stole an i.d., the gophers run real estate scams  :).......blah blah blah

wrestling's here. who's on the mat is on the mat.

outside of long, all the 'incidents' were very minor. so cael didn't (or doesn't) discipline the way your think he should. thats his prerogative.

a 30 page thread slinging mud between iowa and psu fans is not something i look forward to, particularly at this time of year.

however, you're certainly free to post what you want. just sayin'.

I agree Willie, and I started it and will back off.  Wasn't intent to sling mud but ask the question b/c it surprised me some.
Since Jammen has told me twice to change my signature, I can only assume his wrestling knowledge is no longer something I can count on along with pizza and beer.

I hope he has success. For too many years, Alec has cut tons of weight and IMO, it has hurt him. He has always wrestled better when he wasn't cutting a ton of weight. When I saw him at 157, I knew he'd struggle.

I tried to post this but it didnt work for some reason.

I don't want a thirty page thread like that either.  However, in light of what is happening there today and that they let Long onto the team knowing about his issues, I don't think it was "ridicuous" to state that there is a culture of looking the other way to win today at Penn St.

Thats all I'll say.  I don't think it is so ridiculous to have that opinion.

Funny how Ronsnap pretends Iowa's wrestlers haven't had any legal issues. Last time I checked, both teams will have two guys in the lineup that have gotten themselves in hot water. Of course, when this is brought up, the rationalizations start flying.

Which is why I asked.  I know Iowa's guy had to sit after their indiscretions.  What happened with Sherlock?  Were charges dropped?
The charges were from the summer of 2010 not 2011, so it happened during his RS year. He was put into a program for 1st time offenders & had to pay off the fine. End of story.

Not a prick at all Du.  I agree with everything you said about college kids drinking but I also think (just my opinion) that if coaches did something more after the first time there wouldn't be second and third times that seem to escalate.
