Suggestion: Keep posts on topic.
« on: March 04, 2014, 08:20:36 PM »
To moderators: when it comes to your attention by a report or your own thread reviews that a thread is being taken off topic and where you deem it appropriate that you post a friendly warning to redirect the conversation? If necessary lock the thread, clean it up, and reopen it?  Violators could be given a polite private message reminding them that off-topic posts, troll posts, or posts that violated obscenity rules are in violation the TOS.  Repeated offense will result in timeouts or possible bans where egregious. I think this raises the quality of threads, posts, and topics. It encourages constructive interaction between members.

To the community: If a post is offensive or breaks a rule report it, otherwise if a side subject arises such as CTC's comment or the WW history lesson then open a new thread and post a link to it in current thread. It's good manners and respectful to the original topic. Sometimes a particular topic runs its course and drifting off topic is natural and even acceptable. But topics of current events that are even breaking news should be respected.

Can we please give this some thought and a try?
