Power cleaned 300 at 220. Benched 320 at 220 (gym bench, no meet). If I didn't screw up my shoulder doing pullovers I would of cleaned more than I benched. as I Always cleaned a lot relative to my bench, I was not a good bencher given all the time I spent on it. The cleans came much easier..

Doesn't take much to become weak as a kitten, two to three weeks without lifting and you become just another citizen.

390 pounds the last time I lifted (weighed 220). I'm 20 years older and probably couldn't do even do 300 anymore.
bullshit

Bullshit that I couldn't do 390, or bullshit that I probably can't even do 300 anymore?

Tobus is a beast.
He certainly was in his prime, however, he could be sporting a nice pair of moobs for all we know.  ;) ;)

They are called "hooters". Yes, they are a nice pair!

I'd say dead lift is a more accurate gauge of strength than bench press.

Remember Chris Barnes? Was in a powerlifting contest my Sr year in HS and he was in my division. He was a lot stronger than he looked.

Old thread but wanted to chime in.  I never benched more than 250 lbs and weighed less than 170 up until I was 35.  Now I am almost 45, haven't been in a gym in years.  I do work for FedEx unloading trailers and am expected to empty around 1200 boxes an hour.  Some boxes weigh nothing, others weigh up to 100 lbs.  I figure an avg weight of close to 20 lbs or so.  A 4 hour shifts gives me plenty of repetition.

There was an old time boxer by the name of Tony Galento.  Tony's nickname was "Two Ton" Tony.  Many believed that if was because of his rotund physique. He was a bit "stout" at 5'9" and 230lbs.

However, truth be told, he was in fantastic shape.

The job he had was as an iceman in NYC.  He sold blocks of ice to people who had iceboxes.

Each block of ice was 50lbs.

Many of his customers lived in multiple storied townhouses and apartment buildings.  Therefore, Tony would carry his blocks of ice up and down multiple flights of stairs each day.

To make a decent living, he had to sell 4,000lbs of ice each day (or 80 blocks).

Hence Two Ton Tony.

You don't need to get a gym membership to get in shape.
